Childcare for very unconventional working hours.

Hi all.

I'm looking for advice on the availability of childcare for someone who works very strange hours.

I work shifts. On Friday and Saturday nights they are from 1900 to 0530 the next morning and for the rest of the week they are from 1630 to 0230. I do between 8 to 12 of these a month.

My mother had been looking after my 16 month old daughter whilst I was at work but it doesn't seem as if this situation is going to last much longer (long story!)I was wondering if anyone had any experience/thoughts/wisdom to offer.

I'm thinking that it will probably be impossible to arrange childcare for such hours and that I will probably have to find a new job...but thought I get advice from all quarters first.

Ofsted is now responsible to registering night nurseries. Search their webpage?

I would suggest a night nanny. An Au Pair isn't appropriate for children below the age of 2.

i would second baytree house nursery, i sent my son to their sister nursery in catford and they had lovely friendly staff.
