Recommendations for personal shoppers

Can I also add that 'deactivating' an account is an extraordinary overreaction?

I'm not sure why Admin would have even got involved in that sort of ridiculous behaviour.

If she didn't want to post any more she could have just stopped.

'Deactivating' is such a hissing pissy shitsy foot stamping pathetic wankster that I don't believe even the most vomit poking ingrate would have it done after a little gentle ribbing for asking for shopping slaves to bring clothes to her.

Therefore none of the above must be true, it must be something else.

In terms of 'style', if you're a bloke, I'd say that spending ?100 - 280 on jeans is just trying to impress.

The act of paying so much is not 'stylish', jeans are finite in how 'stylish' they can be for men.

Style does not translate to big expenditure automatically.

There are many 'styles', 1000s in fact, there is no right or wrong way to dress unless its what you believe is your 'way'. If one is looking elsewhere to see what's 'in' today, that's when you've lost the plot.

To seriously try and relate what you wear today to some film star months later seems to me some kind of enslavement - who cares what Brad Pitt wears now or next year, seriously ?

And where does Brad or any other celebrity qualify in being the benchmark for how you think you should look ?

Utter fluff and bollox surely ?!

I pity anyone who steps out the door worrying whether their 'outfit' fits anything other than their own construct of what they should look like.

Anything else would be a sell-out to your real freedom of choice.

Your 'style' guru.

"To be fair, any thread which starts by describing buying a couple of outfits as "exhausting", was always bound to end in farce. The involvement of UDT has at least made it strangely entertaining."

That is what Jeremy said, and I'm sorry GG, but if that was enough to make someone feel bullied and leave, then IMO that is way over sensetive.

I do however agree that it's a shame her innocent request for advise was hijacked like it was, but this is a public forum used by a variety of people, and I think perhaps she would have been better of using the faqmily room, 99% of which is used by busy mums who may well have had the answer she was after. Alternatively, a fashion forum or something.

As I say, sad that she felt the need to leave, but my sympathy is limited, there are far worse things that can happen than a few people messing about on an internet forum.

I think you missed my point, I wasn't trying to distract, and I'd like you to show where I have bullied anyone.

What I was saying (and I thought it was pretty obvious) was that you are like a broken record with the self esteem thing. You're not actually getting to anyone, it's just boring.

I do believe that UDT, after years of telling other people how much better he is than them, of relentlessly criticising them and calling them morons, is complaining that it's actually him that is hard done by.

He has been so rude on the other forums he visits he has been banned by them, and yet considers himself bullied on the only forum that is tolerant enough to allow him to continue.

That demonstrates such a spectacular lack of self awareness it borders on mental health issues.

There were a number of threads where people were asking for recommendations for practitioners of certain 'alternative therapies' that got similarly messy (I plead guilty to having played my part in that*) and since then I had understood that there was a kind of unwritten rule that people genuinely asking for recommendations didn't get swamped with posts saying "why do you want one of those (you idiot)?".

If there isn't, there probably should be; if people stop posting or signing up because the perception is that this kind of thing is inevitable, the overall quality of the info on here will decline. Maybe if this thread had started off in the "Wanted" section things might have panned out better.

(*If you really think reiki will make things better for you, then, you know, it might just work. Despite being mumbo-jumbo.)

"Maybe if this thread had started off in the "Wanted" section things might have panned out better."

I think this is rather key, each section has it's own subculture.

Tangential bickering is pretty much de rigeur for the lounge, the wanted section would have been a much wiser proposition.

I don't think a rule is needed, maybe moderators need to be a bit more alert to stuff like that naively or mistakenly starting in the lounge.

Generally people would do so because they enjoy the banter and I see no reason to stop that and impose a more stringent stickly-rule culture on the forum.

Maybe posters like giggirl could have reported their concerns to the team earlier and saved MsB her flounce?

    • I completely agree with you . Its as if they have their foot in the door and are just pushing and pushing. It's ridiculous. It's not the right space. they clearly do not give any regard to the environment or they would move it.
    • There's a great badminton club at the Harris girls academy. It runs Friday from 5.30 to 6.45. for more experienced players, they have sessions on Wednesday and Friday, too but that's subject to skill levels
    • There seem to be all sorts of blocks for this event being mounted on the Common, one is that it was 'designed especially' for the current site, though the organisers seem to have had absolutely no problem rejigging their plans to the original site footprint to expand the event to what we had last year- which I think really imposed on a large part of the park and spoilt the feel. I would suggest pressing very hard for relocation to the Common ( also closer to transport links). There must be a way, surely? If not, then wholesale relocation to a more suitable venue. I just do not think the park should be subjected to a festival-goer footfall of 60,000 plus over the summer.
    • I absolutely will. Fed up of property developments that are funded from offshore investors and price out local people. Fed up of the demise of social rents and the growing crisis of families in bed and breakfast. Fed up of young people being unable to save deposits, start families and generally have the same security of tenure that previous generations had. So yes, I will drill down into the financing, affordability, where the properties aer being advertised for sale, and how many are genuinely for social rent. Otherwise, no opposition to redeveloping that site in that way.
