Just posted up on the Southwark website:

We are working closely with our partner, Veolia to minimise the impact of Covid-19 on household waste and recycling collections. Currently, our collection services are operating with some delays, and you may see your waste collected on a later day than normal. Please bear with us, we are prioritising the collection of household waste, and will reach you as quickly as possible if your collection is delayed.

The Household Waste Recycling & Reuse Centre is closed until further notice. This is because any travel to the Centre by residents would be unlawful, following the introduction of recent travel restrictions which require residents to stay at home to prevent the spread of coronavirus. We will update this webpage when this changes.

I've just asked James McAsh to ensure bins aren't left in the street after they are emptied as this will stop people leaving their houses to move them back in

A small thing but important after last nights announcement

I agree as the refuse men are already risking germs as it is. The least we can do is bring our own bins in.

Agreed, mine was collected a few hours later than normal but on the correct day - also Underhill/Melford. Bins both left on edge of roadside, which I'm also fine with. The lack of traffic must help them a bit with rounds I would have thought.

I think that these guys are handling hundreds of bins on their route so it's almost certain some will have the virus passed onto it by the house holder and consequently passed down the chain by the bin man. You should avoid touching the surface of the bins and that's why it is better for the bins to be returned to original position. No one is going to leave their bin on pavement for a few days, whereas they are more likely not to fill bins for a few days (allowing enough time for virus to clear which I understand may up to few days). Either way always wash hands immediately after handling bins.

    • It's not fair to hold Corbyn's brother's views against him when he has never explicitly or implicitly endorsed them. And he has enough of his own terrible positions to criticise anyway.
    • Completely unacceptable. They need to fund a proper, permanent park warden presence or this sort of behaviour will get worse. Parks should be safe for all to enjoy and being assaulted and threatened by teenage gangs may put more vulnerable people off using the park altogether. If they are prepared to threaten to hurt an animal then where might it lead? Sorry Alice but we'll have to disagree on this one. This does not sound like kids just being silly; lobbing water bombs at each other is one thing, but targeting complete strangers out for a walk and minding their own business and trying to kick their dog is, in my view, no laughing matter. A group of 15 teenagers can be intimidating, not to everyone but for some it can be, especially if their behaviour is aggressive.
    • Now I have heard everything…..not send your kid to a school because you don’t like the name - so to get my head around this, if school is outstanding, parents won’t send their child there because of name of school? Or have I not understood?
    • A quick Google says that it is not undersubscribed unlike many subject schools so those claims mentioned above may not be true. Last Ofsted was good.  You are definitely right about the money. This is what trusts do. Remove word ‘subject’ above Remove word ‘subject’ above I can’t edit my ridiculous errors but would like to apologise  for messy post
