Hi all, I would really appreciate some personal recommendations for carpenters. We have been let down by the one we were relying on and have quite a bit of work to do (building wardrobes, kitchen cupboards etc) and are nervous about embarking on this without prior recommendations! Many thanks, Rosie
I would like to recommend Klaus, trading as Klaus the House Carpentry. He has done many jobs for me over the years in various properties. He has done all the jobs you require and more, and is trustworthy and reliable and pays meticulous attntion to detail. He also has a great eye for design. He has a portfolio of all the work he has done. I have no hesitation in giving him my highest recommendation. His number is 07976401767.

Hi, we had our banisters and handrails refitted by Brett. He's a lovely chap who lives in dartford but does a lot of work in this area. He did a fantastic job and worked with us to get a good price on the materials which we purchased ourselves, then was honest enough to knock some money off at the end when he said it had taken less time than thought He is a really nice and reliable guy, he even bought a toy dog for our toddler. He also made and fitted our double back gate to a specific non standard size. Another great job.

His number is: 07921 149168, I'm sorry I don't know his surname/website details as my husband organised it.

We used a guy called Shaun Kayum who did a really great job for us: alcove cupboards and shelves next to fireplace, boiler cupboard with slatted shelves underneath, electrics cupboard, understairs cupboard, kitchen shelves, and new front door. Top quality carpenter and seemed good value for the quality. He is quite busy though so need to book him in advance. His no. is 07973 372370.

Hi you could use Ronald Rudloff who is really excellent. This is what I posted about him.

If you are looking to have a wooden floor laid, a cupboard built or a kitchen made, I cannot recommend local joiner Ronald Rudloff highly enough. I first contacted Ronald to build a cupboard in a tricky space under the stairs, but he has subsequently laid oak flooring throughout the reception rooms, built a large wardrobe, and made amendments to a bespoke kitchen (I wish I had known about Ronald before I asked another company to build the kitchen in the first place).

Ronald is a perfectionist but highly efficient; he always arrives when he says he will, ensures you are happy with his work before he leaves (with the work area left immaculate), and is reasonably priced (and what he quotes is what you pay, and if he meets any unexpected problem he solves it there and then). I am delighted with the work he has done for me.

He can be contacted on [email protected] (website [www.ronaldrudloff.com].

I would also like to recommend Amang Rostum - he is competent, reliable and he is also good at problem-solving so he knows his stuff. He has recently done a range of carpentry jobs throughout my house which ranged from adapting understairs cupboards to hanging cupboards, hanging and re-hanging doors. Reasonable price too.

I reccommend Greg. He just installed shelves in our alcove. They look great and we're very pleased. Many people in this forum have recommended him, which is how I found him. He did the job as planned to a high standard and close to the original estimate.

I'd also like to recommend Amang Rostum. He's just finished a job for me today, working on a door and door frame. He has been reliable, friendly, very clean and tidy and also reasonably priced. I'd definitely have him back to do further work.

    • Denmark Hill to Clapham Junction then pick up the 345 from Falcon Road ( exit Clapham Junction Station from the back entrance) The overground will terminate on platform one anyway so you're already on that side of the station. The 345 bit should take you approximately 30 minutes and the overground from Denmark Hill to CJ approximately 15 minutes. All the best!!
    • I would go to Victoria (185 bus or Southern Rail) then get either a bus from there to Chelsea Town hall (I think it may be the C1 but I'm not sure..I moved from that area over 25 years ago) and the Royal Marsden is a short walk from there. OR get a Underground from Victoria to Sloane square and a Taxi from there to Royal Marsden..It would'nt cost much because its a few mins away..or a bus from Sloane Square to Chelsea Town Hall or Fulham Rd/Sydney St
    • I don't know how the law works, nor what rules cover what doctors can and can't say in their professional and private (?personal?) capacities,  but on the face of it I agree that some of the comments quoted are unacceptable, to say the least. However, in the context of the subject of this thread,  I think it is important to differentiate between antisemitism ("hostility to or prejudice against Jewish people") and hostility to  the Israeli government's apparent attempted genocide of Palestinian civilians in retribution for the appalling attack on Israeli civilians by Hamas. I might be completely wrong here, and naive, and I am sure someone will correct me if I am, but it seems to me to be as if the English government had started trying to annihilate the whole of the  Irish population because of the IRA bombings in the nineties. I also realise that there is a whole historic background to the Palestine/Israel thing, but I am not familiar with it. Anyway, I and everyone I know who has taken part in any of the recent marches has done so to try to get our government to stop supporting genocide, not because they are antisemitic. And yes there are other awful things going on in the world, and always have been. I can't fight all of them. One of my brothers has taken in three generations of  a Ukrainian family. ETA: Do you really think it is OK to refer to people as "blacks"? Or am I wrong about that as well, and there is some reason why it is acceptable?
