Here's the CNN version then. Luckily I think you have to be bitten by the fleas first.

Are you surprised?

people have virtually forgotten about social distancing, others are travelling back from holiday destinations where the numbers are already rising and in a few days schools will go back and we will all be encouraged to go back to the offices.

It's a shame that we aren't learning the mistakes made from countries like Spain and France where the numbers are already rising and trying to avoid the same mistakes here.

France is beginning to see the start of an exponential increase in new cases and there is no reason to think that won't happen here or anywhere else. It matters who is getting infected also though. So hospital admissions and deaths have to be considered in assessing this.

I agree. Spain have also seen an increase in cases lately.

However, fatality rates as a % of confirmed cases have plummeted dramatically. Looking at the data from 28/08 - France is now at around 0.5% compared to 11% overall, Spain 0.25% compared to 6.75% and here in the UK 0.7% compared to 12.5%.

More widespread testing, especially amongst those less vulnerable will have contributed to this I'm sure.

Does anyone have a link that shows the number of tests at all? Would be interesting to also see the positive test %

Possible, plus those most vulnerable having unfortunately succumbed to it already. Also, the virus may have mutated far enough to no longer be deadly per se. It was downgraded to no longer be a high consequence infectious disease (HCID) in the UK back in March once more was known.

I think so. A 66 year old relative who attended meetings and activities on a daily basis is doing very little in person. It's all Zoom meetings with other elderly and vulnerable people.

It is noticeable that there have been fewer elderly out and about since the start of the epidemic.

I fall into the clinically vulnerable and elderly bracket as do other friends. I'm still living a pretty much shielding life with the odd very cautious tiptoe back out into the world. Same as my friends who I haven't physically seen since early March. TBH can't see that changing for a long while sadly.

I would have thought 7 out of 193 people to be a very low number considering how closely knit they would have been in a plane for hours. That's if any of them caught it off of each other too from that plane journey too.

Piers Corbyn has been arrested and fined 10K after the London march denying Covid-19 exists

"He was punished, according to the Health Protection Regulations, for holding a gathering of more than 30 people in an outdoor place, Scotland Yard said."

Whatever people's beliefs are about the lockdowns (many courts across the world have ruled that they were illegal) this is disgraceful. I doubt that they also went after organisers of local BLM protests or the NHS clapping on London Bridge months ago. Tyranny and suppression anyone?

It?s not tyranny and suppression, it?s a law bought in to deal with the raves that have been happening, and it didn?t exist until recently otherwise I pretty sure they would?ve used it against anyone. The govt wants the money after all.

Quite a lot of rave organisers also got hit with it this weekend.

Piers knew exactly what he was doing, it?s great PR for him, and I?ve no doubt a GoFundMe page will pay the fine.

Tyranny and suppression is what?s going on in Belarus.

They didn't go after the BLM protests because it would have led to full scale riots.

They didn't go after the NHS clapping because they would have been labelled 'killjoys' or wtte

The people at the demo today were a mixture of quiet, usually law-abiding people in the main who want their normal lives back.....sitting ducks I suppose

My understanding is that the law was brought in for public health reasons, it doen't differentiate between what the intentions of the gatherings were for.

Considering this was a demonstration against actions taken by the government, this the very definition of tyranny and supression in my opinion.

Of course that's why, and understandable to a degree. But law is law. Applying discretion as to who it is to be enforced against is just asking for trouble. Either scrap it altogether or apply it consistently.

Well, I understand you have strong feelings on the matter, but consider this.

Over a thousand people turned up, listened to speeches, voiced their opinion and went home. No tear gas, no baton charges, no rubber bullets, no one was kettled.

Piers Corbyn is free - and is going to - appeal the fine through the legal system.

Honestly, that doesn?t look much like tyranny and suppression to me.

    • What outcome would you like? Disciplinary action? Not to have the driver back? Retraining? I know there is alot of pressure on drivers to deliver within a set day. if he slams the gate, is it evidence he is causing damage, or is the noise a irritant to yourself? You could put a sign up or buy a signing asking to close the gate gentle???? can you hear the door bell from the door? he might be ringing, not hearing and therefore knocking. In trhe notes section of the be livery page, there is a note section, although there is not 100 per cent these notes would be read as these drivers are constantly rushing.  I did a google search for you, i found this and you can try the envri website Contact Us | Evri   To complain to Evri, you can follow these steps: Contact Customer Service: Call Evri's customer service at 0330 808 5456 for assistance with your complaint.    1 Write a Letter: Address your complaint to Capitol House, 1 Capitol Close, Morley, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS27 0WH.    1 Use the Official Website: Visit the Evri complaints page on their official website for detailed instructions on how to submit a complaint.    2 Email or Call for Specific Issues: For issues like missing or damaged parcels, you can email or call 0800 988 8888, which is free to call.    1 These methods will help you effectively communicate your concerns to Evri.   My driver is called anthony, he is brilliant to be honest. I cant fault him.
    • When I have more time and energy, I will look up the actual number of votes cast for each party in that election, rather than the number of seats won. I'm interested to see that you apparently  think that  Boris Johnson did a good job of "leading the country through Covid." Is your memory really that short? I won't stoop to calling Johnson and his cronies names in the way that you seem to think is appropriate for left wing politicians. At least the left wing politicians have some semblance of morals and a concern for people who aren't in some over privileged inner circle and/or raking in money for themselves on the back of an epidemic. I'm not going to open a can of worms on here  by commenting on the disgraceful so called "purge".
    • Can’t imagine what it must be like you have your doorbell rung harshly.
    • Hi all, Wondering if anyone else in/around SE22 is also having the unfortunate luck of having Evri parcels delivered by a very rude individual? Whenever we have parcels delivered, our front gate is being slammed open and closed, ring doorbell is harshly banged (not pressed) followed by simultaneously banging on the door knocker and slamming the letter box multiple times. Someone is normally home by the time they come in the evening and never has to wait long for an answer. If we’re not home, we speak to them on the doorbell so we do find the actions of this individual unreasonable and rude.  We have tried a couple of times politely asking that they not do this but they are very dismissive and gives a passive-aggressive “have a nice day” reply.  Has anyone been able to contact Evri and successfully had any issues similar to this resolved? We have enough evidence through our doorbell footage but we are lost with what else we can do. We’ve tried asking politely but don’t want our gate or door damaged by someone who simply doesn’t care and lacks basic manners.    If anyone else is having this issue or has any advice on how we can report this, it would be much appreciated. After another dismissive reply to my concern this afternoon, I will be calling Evri tomorrow to raise a complaint. I have lost my patience with them
