The issue with alcohol though is one of drunk people forgetting the restrictions that are in place. It was entirely predictable and government I suspect, caved into lobbying from the likes of Tim Martin, over really asking if people could suddenly become responsible around alcohol. Last night I took a walk through the West End on my way home. While it is quieter than usual, there were still plenty of young unconcerned revelers pub crawling. Imagine how that will go at the height of the flu season! I would think closing pubs and restaurants completely is a no brainer - a question of when, not if.

Under the new emergency lockdown, all bars, restaurants and pubs would be told to shut for two weeks initially, while households would be banned indefinitely from meeting indoors, the Times reports.

As part of the social lockdown, ministers reportedly said schools, offices, and shops would stay open.

Surely it should be the other way around? I can't have a family member visit me, but I can get on public tranporta nd travel to work in a building containing thousands of people? Makes no sense whatsoever

Can anyone here share any insight into false positive rates and how that affects the figures?

Dr Mike Yeadon, the former CSO and VP, Allergy and Respiratory Research Head with Pfizer Global R&D and co-Founder of Ziarco Pharma Ltd, explains how the reported number of cases is actually a lot lower than we are being told.

Just think, you could be travelling to work on Air Force One where one person can spread it to their boss and family 🤔

But agree , that work and travel does present a risk which is why we are now being asked to work from home if we can. A reverse of the thinking a month ago of go to the office if you can.

I guess regardless we all have our own part to play in suppressing this virus and flouting the rules because we don't agree with them won't help break the chain.

That link has just been removed, it was there no more than an hour ago.

Can't really blame people for breaking the rule when Boris's dad, Corbyn and other politicians get caught not following them.

Yes JohnL, ordinary soap is enough to break down the membrane of the virus. The key thing is to rub the soap in for long enough, hence the public information film that suggested singing a tune while doing that. Two minutes is ample time for the soap to do the job. So I would say, if you have the time, do the 2 min soap wash. If you are in a hurry, or have no access to a sink, use the hand sanitiser.

I don't believe Trump is in hospital at all.

The video he released prior to leaving for the hospital was using a green screen.

The video he released last night from hospital appears to be at sea, judging by the moving background. There is background noise throughout which appears to be an engine of some sort.

A ploy to gain sympathy votes perhaps?

You better hope he doesn't die Robbie. But I am sure you will have some conspiracy theory up your sleeve to explain that too. Get your head out of the Q Anon bubble. There is a real world out there where people really do get ill (most of the campaign team from the Whitehouse in fact). I suggest you start living in it.

I hope no-one dies, and this has nothing to do with QAnon. Stop labelling everything that gets questioned as being a part of it. You're worse than the media.

I feel it's either a ploy, or that his condition may be a lot worse than it currently is. I'm going with the former due to the 2 videos released.

I think you know that I'm a fan of Trump. I'm doubting the accuracy of the current reporting and calling him fake news!

Says the person who listed key components of Q Anon to make some argument of a conspiracy in play. You fool no-one Robbie. You also know perfectly well that Q Anon is an invention of a hardcore Trump fan group, but you are so deep into it that you can not see truth from fantasy anymore.

That you also can not tell the difference between a video shot on a gimbal, and one using a locked off tripod is also telling ;)

Given that half the top people in the campaign team are now testing positive John L, it presents some major problems for the campaign. One other is also in hospital, so even if Trump pulls through (easily or otherwise), if anyone else dies or experiences serious illness, there will be major consequences for the campaign. These are people who played down every stage and facet of this pandemic, and Trump himself has been just disrespectful at times. Will they change direction in their messaging now? We shall see.

'At least 11 positive coronavirus tests can be traced to members of the media or organizers of this week's presidential debate in Cleveland, city and clinic officials said Friday'

And so what? That is what a virus does, jumps from person to person. Some people can be even completely asymptomatic and shed huge loads of virus, and that is precisely why all the stuff about social distancing, masks and washing hands is in play. But for some reason, a whole bunch of people at the Whitehouse think none of that applies to them, and yes, that may also include some visitors from the media. In that case, what did you think was going to happen once Trump and his team started active campaigning? Going to rallies? Engaging with a wider public? Do you really think an invisible virus was going to say 'hey boys, don't touch the President and his team'. Do you ever stop seeing conspiracies in anything?

The nominee confirmation event may not have been the super spreader event as you stated. Was it that hard to understand?

I don't blindly believe everything that I'm told to believe like you do, no.

So that is a yes then. Everything is a conspiracy to you.

The only fact here, is that most of Trump's campaign team, went into active campaigning with complete disregard for the advice sensible people have been following for months, and low and behold, caught the virus. That should be perfectly easy to understand.

Big mistake, but my Aunt was very old, and this was the Covid years and shortly after so impossible to intervene and get a couple of close relatives to do this.  She had no children so this is the nephews and nieces. He is a single practitioner, and most at his age would have long since retired - there is a question over his competence Two letters have already gone essentially complaining - batted off and 'amusingly' one put the blame on us. There are five on our side, all speaking to each other, and ideally would work as a single point of contact.  But he has said that this is not allowed - we've all given approval to act on each others behalf. There are five on her late husband's side, who have not engaged with us despite the suggestion to work as a team, There is one other, who get's the lion's share, the typicical 'friend', but we are long since challenging the will. I would like to put another complaint together that he has not used modern collective communication (I expect that he is incapable) which had seriously delayed the execution of the will.   I know many in their 80s very adept with smart phones so that is not an ageist comment. The house has deteriorated very badly, with cold, damp and a serious leak.  PM me if you want to see the dreadful condition that it is now in. I would also question why if the five of us are happy to work together why all of us need to confirm in writing.             The house was lived in until Feb 23, and has been allowed to get like this.
    • Isn’t a five yearly electricity safety certificate one of the things the landlord must give for a legal tenancy?
    • Very sorry to hear this, but surely the landlord is responsible for fixing the electrics?  Surely they must be insured for things like this? I hope you get it all sorted out quickly.
