My friends daughter is called Otterly, she?s 24 of close to that.

What?s your point? Oh yeah, you?ve not heard of it before, I see.

Well there you go, whatever next?!

You killjoy fleabag

Wait a second, there is good name.... (actually three good names, Fleabag, Seabag and Killjoy)

As a kid I always liked the name Lorraine. It was dreadfully exotic. I think that Lorraine Chase put pay to that. We also had friends Alexandra and Olivia. They weren't posh but the mum was trying to give that impression. They were the only ones I knew for years.

Lorraine Chase may have had a very strong working class accent but she was exceptionally well-groomed....maybe she was named after a French relative of hers?- they are all descended from peasants but are well-groomed!

Sadly many of us will only remember the Luton Airport advert. Even more will have not heard of us. But thanks for putting me right, and pleased that Lorraine has stayed an up market name!

I also hadn't realised that she was from Deptford and is therefore a local celeb.

Funding crisis is getting worse and the VAT on Education pushed children out of independent schools, now their SEND needs are to be met by the state.
    • I completely agree with you - and last night was really terrible where I am. Between midnight and 1am was the worst, where it genuinely felt like a war zone. I had to run out of my house to try and stop a grown man setting them off in open space right by our front doors. In response he went to throw a half lit one at me and then seemed to think better of it. I am so sad at how bad the situation has got here and how selfish people are. Fireworks are bad for the environment and for pets and wildlife, as well as just being unnecessary noise for people too. I have sent an email today to Helen Hayes, which I have done previously on this issue. Would advise anyone to write to your MP to do the same, and to ask them to engage with the debates scheduled for 19 Jan.
