Is there going to be any decent competition for the Hoopers Pub Quiz tonight?

Recommended Posts

No word from Jamma - does that mean no win?????

Okay - we're next out on 8th May - would prefer Hoopers but willing to go to any quiz that has good competition. There have been plenty of people on this thread who seem to think they are up to the challenge but we've yet to go head to head yet.

Any teams up for that date? Hoopers or elsewhere?

Bah, babysitter let us down last minute so didn't make the quiz which well pissed me off.

Not sure what date we'll be back in action, possibly the Clockhouse on Tues. But nutty choose your venue well, we will destroy any challengers at the Hoopers quiz absolutely guaranteed.

Oh Mr(s) Nutty, you are soon to feel the force of a fully operational quiz machine.

And once we are finished with you we shan't return to Hoopers we'll move on and you'll keep going there and you'll win again but you'll always know that any future wins just don't really count because somewhere out there is a crack quiz team who could crush you on a whim.

The 'mystery' year round, question one - In what year was 1984? FFS.

Connections round, question one - What connects people who have names that are types of birds? Jeeesus.

International pub quiz convention dictates that 6 is the maximum permissable number of members in a quiz team. And bussing in folk from far away is frowned upon.

We clearly misfired (that was our worst result in any quiz ever) due to the fact we hadn't been together for about six months and we had to field one substitute. The inquest has begun and we shall regain our previous invincibility. So you won on your home turf (which was shit), bring it to The Plough next week and let's see how you fare.

"In what year was 1984?"

Should that read "..written?" otherwise the answer is probably 1984.

Mind yuo, this is from the quiz that insisted the Israelites ate a poisoned apple on the trek to the promised land.

hmmmm - it would have been much easy to slate a quiz for being for dumbasses had you actually won. I don't think you even made it into the top two and kept quiet about who you were.

Admittedly it was fairly childish of us to name our team "Not Jamma" but the purile pleasure of hearing Jamie finish the evening with...

"..and the winners are 'Not Jamma'"

..was too good to pass up - if a little presumptious of us when naming our team at the start.

Okay - when is the plough one - I'll try and raise the troops. I doubt there will be as many of us next time, a couple of extras just came along for a drink, the core team of four or so holds the brainpower.

Don't get the comment about "bussing in folk from far away is frowned upon"?

    • Why not have a chat with the Maths school on Lordship lane? Just down from library - in front of bus stop opposite side of road to Sainsbury. Libraries sometimes offer coding …not sure if it still tuns but in Brockwell Park they use to have a little train - maybe they might have stuff that needs fixing.
    • Londis isnt a take away or fast food outlet. Its simply another convenience store.
    • Greg came out at last minute notice to address a leak at the flat. He stayed for 90 mins to try and fix it but turned out it was a communal pipe. He was quick to write a report so we could get Southwark onto it. Great plumber, would recommend highly.

Our grand daughter aged 11 is no problem, but 9year old is more difficult to please. Has an interest in computers and coding, does not like crowds (neurodiverse)  Is keen n how things work and enjoys taking things apart. He is already going to the transport museum and has been to the science museum  Husband and I have some mobility problems so nothing too strenuous. have done Horniman's a number of times.  Is there any local holiday schemes where we can enrol him in for 2/3 days. There seems to be a number relating to singing/dancing and drama but nothing science/maths based. He does not have an interest in sport at the moment. Grand children live in Sussex and will be attending Holiday Clubs for a couple of weeks
