I know there have been a number of threads about moths but I am finding it all very confusing. Can anyone recommend an effective solution. It sounds to me as if glue traps are the way forward. Any specific brand? How can I if possible make sure the problem doesn't spread. Any prevention tips? If there are already eggs on clothes are these visible and if they aren't is there anything I can do to prevent them from eating everything? My freezer is tiny so freezing everything would be difficult.

Glue traps won't catch all the moths and are very cruel.

If you have read the previous threads I'm not sure what is confusing you, but the chemicals I recommended there worked for my moth problem. Nothing else did.

Moth eggs are visible, but it would take you a very long time to check every item of clothing you possess, I imagine!

More or less, I had in mind more that in trying to get off the glue they tear their wings off.

When I first had a moth problem I spent about fifty quid on non-chemical stuff I bought from John Lewis - lavender, sandalwood etc.. None of it worked. The only thing I found that worked (and so have many other people judging from reviews on Amazon etc) was odourless chemical strips of paper you put amongst your clothes, combined with hanging chemical things for the wardrobe.

I also had to spray wall hangings and things initially.

I still very occasionally see a moth - recently lately amongst stored towels where I hadn't put paper strips - and I either squish it or spray it with a Rentokil spray, but touch wood the fairly major problem I once had has gone.

    • Hi Busterb, Yesterday I turned up with a scanner & towels, hoping to take a deceased tabby down to TNV. The body was moved moments before arrival & had not been turned in to any vets, rescues or animal hospitals. I am wondering if this could have been the same cat & if someone just tried to move the tabby further away from the road. Please be warned, viewers discretion is advised. but this is what the deceased tabby looked like: https://www.facebook.com/groups/900015513463302/permalink/3729980853800073/  In any case, if you haven't been able to get someone to scan or take down to a vet, I can scan tomorrow morning.
