Very reasurring to know that my high risk (but not really all that high risk) pregnancy is getting dealt with by the same people who get sent the genuinely difficult cases - feel very lucky to have Kings as my local hospital this time! I should really stop watching these things though, so sad for the couple who lost a twin.
I dont know if I missed it, but didn't hear anything about the birth of the surviving twin. I did not see the whole programme , but saw where the procedure was done , cutting the placenta. I wondered about the other mother having triplets where 1 of the identical twins was having problems, but all turned out well. I realy felt for the woman who lost her twin, the woman doin the scan seemed very matter of fact. Hope all went well.
I am so glad I caught this, having been under the care of many of the docs featured (including the Prof and Leonie Penna, who was fantastic) when we had our identical twins. They developed twin to twin transfusion and I had the laser procedure featured on the programme. Having that op and then waiting for that follow-up scan was the worst 2 weeks of my life. We were among the very lucky ones in that both our girls survived, the programme brought back lots of memories but more than anything reminded me how lucky we are to have our NHS and such a fantastic specialist ante-natal centre virtually on our doorstep!

    • Surely only where the local businesses offer clear advantages, otherwise you are rewarding what should be failure. I want to be served by a better bakery than Gail's, not a worse but local independent one. Certainly give a local independent some time to get the offer right, but don't buy goods which are worse and or more expensive just because the outlet isn't a chain.
    • Let’s just boycott all chains in favour of local businesses.  Places like Gail’s popping up everywhere has a very damaging impact on small businesses. It’s just the same as the new empanadas place but on a bigger scale. I’ll say it a million times more, we hold the power with our choices. Let’s use our power to look after ourselves and our environment (which includes small local family businesses). And yes, I also love Chacarero.
    • You know that the top 1% of earners pay 30% of all total tax in the UK right? If they leave who picks up the tax slack? This is an inconvenient truth ignored by many. This is why Labour did a u-turn on non-doms because they started leaving and left the Treasury with a growing tax hole to fill.
