Hi, has anyone spent Christmas in Tenerife? Or would recommend a particular hotel/villa there? My elderly mother-in-law can't fly far but wants to spend Christmas somewhere warmer. My husband, me and our 2 kids (aged 2 and 5) will be joining her. The problem us we have never been there and have no idea where to stay etc etc. Any advice would be welcome!!!

Thanks!

Michelle

Well I can tell you that Golf del Sur can be v nice and is v handy for airport. However you need to check exactly where within the complex you are. It is really big and some areas are badly affected by the flight path, although we were lucky. I will look for details of our agent and our bungalow number if you are interested as it was lovely, accidentally!
South Tenerife is quite cold in the winters, so i guess thats out of question. It is cooler in the North of the island compared to the south. Tenerife is like two countries. For sun, sea, pub and club, go to the south; for green, scene, Spain and rain, go to the north. Also, for the christmas part, Tenerife is quite a festive places, they have different activities for every day till new year
You specifically want to go to Tenerife only? Because there is no way you can avoid the chill during Christmas time in Tenerife. Consider some other destination altogeteher. What sort of places and activities you prefer on Christmas? That would help suggest more appropriate choices for you to visit:)

It may be chilly up Mt Teide, but I luxuriated in 30 degrees of sunshine and a fug of honey rum when I spent a new year there a few years ago.

Unusually high temperature perhaps, but chilly it is not, unless you're 3000 feet above sea level.

Playa de las Americas is hell on earth, but only 15 minutes along the coast are lovely fishing villages, the people are lovely, Teide is awesome. It's a fabulous place.

    • There was quite an old clip on BBC4 recently where they were introducing yoghurt to the British public. They called it a 'Balkan Dairy Preparation', which sounded to me more like something you'd ask to speak to the male member of staff about in the chemist in those days.
    • I haven't had any problems, except when the online  appointment system is full, but I have found if something is urgent they can fit you in if you phone. I think they probably keep a few spaces free for urgent last minute appointments, but I'm just guessing  I've found it quite convenient being able to email questions which previously I would have had to ask at an actual appointment, and I've always had a speedy reply. You can send photos as well. I don't know about forms and letters. That sounds bad. Have the admin staff changed recently?
    • Nearly a quarter of the way through the season. Week 9 points...   Week 9 table...
    • The yoghurt was very sharp (not sure of right word) and  if memory serves quite runny. Nothing like the stuff sold now. There was pink as well. Strawberry? That must have had sugar in? Too new fangled for us, but my Auntie Grace down the road used to get it 😂 Well, you had to keep up to date. Sorry, couldn't resist.
