I'd recommend Benchmark Lofts too (http://benchmark-lofts.com/). Tom Payne who owns the company is a good guy and we got more than we expected with our conversion - which doesn't happen often when you have work done!

Happy to show people our loft if you're considering Benchmark - we're in West Norwood.

you would be well advised to get a Certificate of Lawfulness before starting.

If someone complains after the work has been done and you have not followed all the PD rules the council could ask you to rebuild the extension.

Hi all

I would massively recommend Benchmark Lofts as well. We have just had our loft converted, and Thomas and his team finished on time (in fact slightly earlier than expected), came in on budget and have done an amazing standard of work. They are all are so polite and respectful, they coped with my toddler causing chaos everywhere and they honestly went over and above what we could have expected them to do. Thomas is really communicative, and has an awesome memory - you just have to ask him to do something once and it just gets done. Also happy to expand on any of this if you PM me. Genuinely, we could not have been happier with the process or the end result.

You might be interested in Buildpath who are assisting me with my loft - https://www.buildpath.io

We had a loft conversion done several years ago by one of the companies mentioned here, with associated planning issues. When we were doing it there was no precedent for raising the ridge so we only managed to create a bathroom in the loft space (rather than a bedroom and bathroom.) We are looking to redo it - Nick from Buildpath came round and discussed options for increasing the loft space, produced a package with 3D images and planning information which has given us vital information regarding costs and what can be achieved with the space prior to engaging an architect.

Given previous bad experience with builders/architects this is giving me a much better starting point for this project. Nick is on 02032858330

    • What is it that makes Waitrose so special! Admittedly I have shopped a couple of times in the Orpington and Beckenham one - sometimes buying food which I cannot get else where. Their 'basic range' is not bad. Price for price and quality - M & S.
    • Sometimes a shed or other installation has to have written approval from the freeholder i.e. Southwark, Southwark has (or did have) a Leaseholder Association.   Could also come under Anti Social Behaviour Unit.
    • Love Dulwich is great but has a large step in front. We have only been weekdays at Lunch time. Maria's next to Picture House is disabled friendly. Also can reserve table in advance. We did a Sunday lunch catch up with family - there were 8 of us.
    • Hi, Thinking about  going with some friends and was just wondering if folk might like to report back please. Most importantly sound level when busy & is it disabled friendly.  Thinking on a Sunday lunchtime but don’t want a busy busy environment or loud chatter - a couple of friends could not cope. Time can be flexible, if that helps - say 2 ish to avoid above.. Thanks…
