I had my lovely campervan stolen on friday between 9pm and 7am saturday morning. It was parked on Crystal Palace Rd opposite number 32. Its a westfalia circa 1978 red and white, reg 0AA 231T. I think it was checked out earlier by two men who were parked up nearby for a while in a grey car - I know that's not much to go on but if you have a campervan look out because they are being stolen, and if anyone has any info /thoughts whatever please let me know
Heres a photo - not the best but gives an idea - and no it wasn't alarmed - something I hadn't got round to which is now a source of some regret - its usually parked elsewhere so I wasn't as alert to the theft issue as I could have been....

If you'd checked DVLA you'd have seen that it's taxed until 1 Mar 2013. So what was the point of the message?

Nice looking van

It's a bit too late to advise Mary to fit an alarm or tracker, but other dub owners should if they haven't already as they are old (and valuable)vehicles which aren't that hard to steal compared to modern cars and vans

Mary, I can advise putting a stolen notice on http://thelatebay.com/ in the stolen section as someone may have seen it

I hope you recover it soon as it is upsetting when a classic vehicle is stolen

Ouch. Sorry to hear about this Mary.

I hope it gets returned to you one way or another.

I was advised to always park with the front wheels turned so they are tightly in contact with the kerb. This makes it difficult to get apparatus under the wheels to lift the vehicle on to a flatbed.

    • I am  ill in bed with Covid. It's not that I "can't be bothered" to read things. I am feeling crap and don't have the mental  energy at the moment. I am not "brushing stuff aside and pleading ignorance." I am truthfully saying when I don't presently know enough about something to be able to comment. I have always been very careful to try to  differentiate between fact and opinion in both  my posts and other people's, and I am not clear what your point is. And I am certainly not trying to wind anybody up. This is a forum. If you don't want to respond to my posts, that's up to you. I'm not sure why you feel the need to announce it.
    • @NewWave I know how you feel. Like you, I've lived and spent prolonged periods of time in some pretty crazy places and always thought I could handle a bunch of kids. But, no - they got to me and I was shaking like a leaf afterwards. That's what age does to us.  But I did engage with them, so bear that in mind.  My advice would be to never let anything like that stop you doing the things you love. I'm certainly not going to stop using the park, there's no way they get to take away our cherished spaces!  If you see them, just change tack and keep out of their way. My dog won't even go that way again, so that's that problem solved. (If I see them again, I'm going to keep taking photos from a safe distance).
    • Truly horrific. Being passive or fighting back is what many of us think about by violent theft.
    • What ridiculous waste of money
