Artwork Commissions - Illustration

Hello,

I recently had an exhibition at Jeannie Avent Gallery and met some fellow local East Dulwich Residents.

I am an artist. I make illustrations for kids (though I they appeal to adults too!). My work is black and white, and is custom hand drawn. I focus primarily on making work as gifts for newborns. An illustration is a great gift that isn't plastic and lasts a long time.

You can see samples of my work here biddyillustration.com or in instagram @biddy_illustration

I also had sculptural works in the show at Jeannie Avent. Some works were in timber and others were crabs made out of cans and old fabric. I had a couple of people ask me if I would be willing to make their child's old clothes into an artwork or sculpture. I would be more than happy to. Get in contact if you would like to discuss an idea!

I am attaching a sample of an illustration commission.

The badger is for the English Dad, he is holding an oak leaf for his British heritage. The mum is South Australian, hence the Australian Magpie and vine leaves for the Barossa Valley. The child was born in 2020, represented by the Pangolin and she is a Gemini, the Gemini Constellation is in the sky. On the moon there is a faint outline of a tennis ball as the parents met playing tennis. I came up with these ideas in response to the answers given to simple questions I gave the client.

Don't hesitate to contact me. I live in East Dulwich and am happy to meet in a park or cafe to discuss ideas.

    • In my experience of public sector funding, there is always room for improvement. That the council are custodians of our money, and are expected to use it wisely and efficiently seems to be lost on them. Just because no council has good financial acumen does not mean we should not insist on it, or should just accept all annual increases without question.
    • Could be, Sue. I believe the Year of the Horse officially starts tonight on 17 Feb. So, although no official displays to mark the date that I am aware of, I suspect there will be unofficial displays until end of coming weekend, sadly.
    • But what are you basing that judgement on? Vibes? where exactly and under what council is money being spent wisely? what about parties which promise to cut waste, come to power and find out there is no waste?
    • I've just had James from Trelco round doing taps and hot water.  Prompt, efficient and pleasant people and the cost came in under what we thought it would be! Will definitely use them again.
