Well if it's survived over 2 years maybe there is a 'thirst' for ice-cream in ED's dreary months :)

The factory tour at B&J is fun; I did it a few years ago. Every employee can take two cartons home a day - and they have free gym membership (not a surprise!)

About ten years ago, they had some 'agony aunt' type thing on their website and one of the people in our office wrote in to say that she wanted to be more popular at work so they sent us enough icecream for all 100 of us.

And yes, while I adore the gelato at Gelupo, sometimes B&J hits the spot. Sometimes you want steak, sometimes a burger.

August 2009 I opened! Crazy woman I am, had 3 great years and back for more next year. You are right though about the dreadful weather, which really makes hardly any difference to opening in winter or summer! I don't think the ice cream parlour, whom ever it may be, will be opening until next spring.

Must pop up and see how the crystal palace one is doing...

Btw, we close this Sunday, so swing by and grab a remarkable Italian gelato. Scoop.ed Melbourne grove. X

MrBen seems to concur, I notice.

The tour was great and they indeed told us about how workers can take two tubs home a day. I forgot to askabout the branch here, but they did promise they only use ethically sourced products and are very green. The water flushing the loos, sorry the Restroomfacilities, was ethically dyed blue and was water from elsewhere in the factory. But they have no sway over franchises in places like EDulwich overcharging, probably.

    • True, though a couple of years back I did have an issue which they had to sort remotely. I can't remember what it was now, some technical thing.
    • I would be interested to know too as we and our son really liked it after going round and have heard positive things from parents.
    • Here you go, original post has this link which includes the map: https://haveyoursay.tfl.gov.uk/sl15-superloop But here's the direct map: https://haveyoursay.tfl.gov.uk/43267/widgets/136130/documents/93465 It does take the P13 a loooong time to get to Tulse Hill, so actually even just cutting that part of the route out wouldn't be a bad thing for an onward connection.
    • If it's your Wi-Fi that was the problem, that's more likely the router (or the device you were using), not the actual service coming into the router.  I am with plusnet, and whenever mind has been glitchy, I check with a device connected via ethernet cable to the router to see if that is okay.  I've been with them for potentially 15 years now and each time there has been an issue (not many and not plusnets fault, more the infrastructure) I have looked elsewhere, but everyone moans about their providers at some point!  Some more than others.  I often feel it's better the devil you know!
