I too gave up on Dexter for the reasons both Otta and quids cite.

I recently gave Vampire Diaries a go whilst stayathomedadding.

It was initially vaguely watchable, there was almost something cathartic about watching a pastiche of Dawson's Creek in the knowledge that the insufferable and spoilt characters will get their throat's ripped out, plus there was a nice dash of humour, but it soon became very dull indeed.

I never made it past episode 8.

I became addicted to Modern Family via Netflix/iPad when I was laid up with flu over new year. It's brilliant, v funny.

Ditto with Dexter, I thought it descended into parody pretty quickly and I simply couldnt take it seriously. Those looking for a post Breaking Bad fix could do a lot worse than Sons of Anarchy and Justified.

Sons of Anarchy is worth watching for the hilarious Irish/provos/Gangster/Drug smuggler/Arms dealer thing - the American view of NI. Other than that it's another re-jigged western.

The Bridge was a bit off the wall but entertaining.

A BBC 3 horror(ish) series called The Fades was good and referenced Mork and Mindy too!

Parks and Recreation is a funny US series with a feel of The Office about it, but more slapstick and less mean.

Try The League, which if anything ,is even MORE un PC, rude, clever and pants wettingly funny .
