northlou
We are going to see family overseas and will be away for a month. We have a good travel cot, which our 11 month old sleeps in very well when we have been away before, but no more than 2 weeks.Should we look into getting a proper cot and proper supportive mattress considering we are away for a month, and the weather will be quite warm? Or would a travel cot be ok for a month? Baby sleeps on her tummy too...Advice on what people have done before! Fmm
I would say that if she sleeps well for 2 weeks, she will be fine for a month. however if you did want to make it a little more comfortable you could get her a padded travel mattress (we got one from mothercare), which would be easier to put in your case than a proper mattress. Also don't forget you can often hire a cot and mattress from your destination, which is what we have done when going away for a month (along with a highchair). If you do this you may want to take a mattress cover anyway, to put over the hire mattress. womanofdulwich
when we went to see relatives in Australia for 2 months they borrowed a travel cot/ used their old one. we just took our own bedding. That was for 2 months and it was fine. shaunag
Or you could send cot mattress dimensions and ask family to pick an inexpensive mattress up to stick in the cot when you get there? Might be a bit more snug? Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/26182-advice-for-using-travel-cot-for-long-stay/#findComment-584756 Share on other sites
