Hello, I'd be grateful for some advice. Could someone outline briefly the current timetable for school applications?

My son is almost two and as he has a November birthday I understand that he will be starting school when he's almost five in September 2015. When would I need to apply for a school place? September 2014?

Many thanks in advance and sorry if this repeats previous strands.

Yes, school year cut off date is 31st August/ 1st September.

A child born on the 1st September is 5 when they start Primary, one born on 31st August will have just turned 4. Everyone else falls in between with the February/March children being those of around average age in the class. You apply for primary between the September and January (check the exact closing date) prior to when your child is due to start primary.

    • Daily Mail?   More atmosphere down the road at Peckham FC aka Menace, Good video, sadly they day the Menace were relegated in the spring (Went to a lot of Dulwich games over the years but now more likely on the South Circular)
    • Some of you may have never been to a post office on a Saturday when one or more people are posting their ebay parcels and you wait yonks.  Just one of those things.  I'm more concerned about the speed of the Royal Mail.  I may start a thread on this!
    • If you're going British, Marks and Sparks do a fantastic Cornish Cruncher Cheddar (get the three year old if it's on offer) and a Stilton/Stichelton which are wrapped in something more like wax paper.  I'm pretty sure they used to do a Stinking Bishop which had minimal plastic wrapping, as well.
    • Thanks to everybody for the responses. Agree that £50-60 is somewhat excessive so supermarket is likely to be the route we take.
