On a rare day off I popped in here with my friend attracted by the ?7 breakfast offer on the A board outside. I asked and the waitress said "Sorry this offer finished at 1pm" It was 1.15 ! FFS . As the IN-SIDE board had no prices (IMMEDIATLEY SCAREY!) and no breakfast type stuff anyway we had a fine brunch at the Park Cafe INSTEAD.
Why 1? Why not 12 2 2.20 1.15 or 11.0 It cant be obvious when some restaurants do breakfasts all day. Unless you can point to a clear obvious reason why 1.00 means no more breakfast deals. Are you saying that the deal should end at 1 or the breakfast?

"I'd like the All Day Breakfast please."

"We stop serving that at one."

"But the sign says All Day Breakfast"

"Yes, that's just the name of the shop luv. Breakfast stops at one."

"Just the name of the shop!?"

"Yes, that's if there's an R in the month, otherwise it stops at twelve. Your name does begin with a P, doesn't it?"

"Well, no, actually, of course it's uh...."

"Well that'll be half eleven then, then."

"Half eleven? Blimey!"

A friend you say t-e-d, was this a, you know, date with a friend? Wheeling out the big guns with a ?7 brekkie eh. Smoothy.

    • Sorry, I know this isn't strictly an East Dulwich topic but as there are so many late-Victorian properties in the area I wondered if anyone has seen anything similar in their house and can advise. We have what looks like an old gas outlet on the back wall of our daughter's bedroom which we'd like to remove, but we weren't sure whether it's safe to do so. Do I just call a registered gas engineer to check it out? And is it definitely a gas outlet or might it be something else? It's at floor level so maybe electricity but it doesn't look like any electricity outlet I've ever seen! Has anyone had any experience of dealing with something similar?

    • End of a wonderful era. We’ve been going since it opened and even started contractions with my oldest (25 year old) son during a lovely New Year’s Eve lunch. Thank you Rod and Tim for some amazing memories.
