I read so many questions about food ideas for children who have various intolerances/allergies or just plain fussy that I wonder whether it would be helpful to have a workshop put on where parents/carers could get professional advice.


The East Dulwich Community Centre's Development Project works with many Health and Social Care professionals and we are considering putting on a 2/3 hour workshop in the New Year to look at children's diets with focus on special diets and general fussy/picky eaters. We have a state registered paediatric dietician who is also a state registered nutritionist with many years experience, and she is prepared to run the workshop.


It would be held in the morning at the Community Centre and would be free of charge. Before we organise a date and time etc - need to get some feedback from you.


Would this workshop be helpful to you?

Would you prefer it to be held during term time or half term holiday?.

Would be held in the morning i.e 10 - 1 pm approx - is this a good time?

Any other questions you may have.

My daughter is dairy and soya free (including traces thereof). She has a gut allergy as opposed to anaphylactic reaction (so more akin to coeliac). Would be interested but like the other poster I work ft and expect the talk would be midweek? Meal ideas would be good, as I tend to Churn out the same old reliable favourites and it would be good to get some inspiration on what might be likely to work. Thanks for suggesting this!

The workshop will be during the week - possible Mon/Tuesday morning - in the New Year. Weekends at the Community Centre ar very booked up with dance classes and a Saturday School. with Sunday being home to 3/4 churches and a evening group.

Kate our dietician is happy to do the workshop if enough people interested - she has many years experience with children and has worked in Guys Hospital. She was instrumental in setting up a project in Goose Green School some years ago - teaching children about food and food production and general healthy eating. The teaching material was adopted by Southwark Education to use in their primary schools.

I will try and keep this post up to date so to attract more hits. Please pm me for more details or information.

      You'd need to get a proper quote (or three) for instance removing a cast iron bath is a very different job from removing an acrylic one. Again what pipe work will be being joined into - matching old imperial pipes with modern metric ones is different from like to like, as is dealing with a copper or an iron distribution system. The amount (area) of retiling required is an issue, as will be the state of the wall behind the tiles. It may of course all be very plain sailing, or not. Have a first look at plumber recommendations on the relevant pages on this site. If it's all easy then 3 days work may be sufficient. But it could be a week if there are snags.

      Hi. Can anyone suggest a plumber for the job below? Replace bath tub with a shower enclosure, putting pipes to showerhead behind wall, re-titling damaged/removed tiles Also any idea of the costs involved for the labour as we will buy the items required?

      Aria came round to fix my tub drain when I'd messed up the seal. Came within hours, fixed the tub, and ran a bath to make sure it was okay. Here's where the fun starts. While he was over, I asked him questions about the rest of the plumbing round the house. I had just moved into a Victorian home that was previously being rented. Unsurprisingly, we found another leak in the tub and a drip in the kitchen tap.  He came back the next day to put a better pipe in my bathtub and replace the kitchen sink. Painstakingly figured out how to replace the hard-to-access kitchen sink without cutting through the wood panel with the help of his builder friend, Mark. Answered all my questions and clearly knew his stuff. All this right before Christmas holidays!
