rheller
I have noticed a real increase over the past year or so in rats in Peckham Rye Park. Has anyone else noticed this? I have lived here for a long time now and never really noticed them until recently when I see them all over the place - running across the paths, along the lake, through the bushes. Am I just being more observant or are there more now? I know they have always been there but I see them every time I?m there now and I never used to! louisemurray
I love those rats. THey are there because people insist on feeding bread to the ducks. elloriac
I'm with Louise, they are very entertaining to watch. They perhaps became more bold because there are fewer people around? (There are still traps around the pond.) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/265923-rats-peckham-rye-park/#findComment-1457913 Share on other sites
offspinner
It's not just in PR park. We've seen rats in a number of parks recently, including Belair Park yesterday. They're usually near water. mrwb
They've always been around Peckham rye park. One of natures great survivors and very hard to get rid of. They learn to recognise poisons put down and breed too fast. Also true bread meant for the ducks ends up being eaten by the rats!
