Advice please - Safe disposal of used needles?

Hi lovely neighbours- following a hospital stay I had to have injections.

Needles have now been safely placed in a locked bin.

- The council doesn't want them at the moment due to covid

- Pharmacies that I have tried dont want/take them

Does anyone know where I can dispose of them safely please?

Next step is to contact the hospital again but they originally mentioned council.

I have had my sharps bin collected during covid through the council. As far as I know, that is the only option.

The Southwark website says that they will collect if it is "needed urgently".

What previous poster has said, GP to give you a form to send to Southwark, it will ask whether you want a regular collection of if it is a one off. It come under clinical waste.

I arranged to take the yellow box to my doctors surgery who accepted them.

Perhaps there is provision at Southwark Recycling Centre ?

After I had an op, I took my full yellow bin back to the long-established chemist on Forest Hill Road near Piermont Green and they took them straight away.

When hubby went back to the hospital for after operation check up he took them back and consultant took them

GPs tell me that if sharps box is small they would take them but if you have a large box it is the council. I tried my pharmacy and they refused to take them.

Went to the surgery, GP filled in a paper and council came this morning to collect directly from my front door!
