"I'd like to be able to speak to the staff I'd like to speak to when phoning the council, instead of having to speak to call centre staff who can't do much more than take a message."

Yes, but then the staff that you were after would spend their whole time taking calls and not being able to actually do their job. I understand the frustration, but as a LA worker (not southwark) I can understand why the call centre type system is a necessary evil.

The immediate and compulsory lopping off, chopping down or otherwise eradicating of any and all branches, boughs, bushes and leafy twigs that stray into the area of pavement designated for pedestrians by even an inch - especially those that drop down from above. If I want to walk through a fucking forest I'll go and find a fucking forest.

In a 'guilty until proven innocent' kinda fashion?

Kiera I think you may simply misunderstand what pollarding is about with London Plane trees. It's not because the tree surgeons are underfunded, lazy or stupid.

Pollarding at 3 to 6 year intervals keeps trees leafier, denser, younger, less threat to houses or passers-by and allows them to live much much longer. It limits root spread and damage to foundations.

I can see you have an instinctive born free let nature take its course approach, but you're wrong on this one - and I'm sure that I've explained this to you before.

So I guess you may not have been listening then, and probably won't listen now ;-)

Hell yey-ah. Alternatively, just fund a chainsaw for me and I'll take care of it.

A ban on heaters outside pubs, and all pubs provided with blankets for smokers instead.

    • Can you explain why some residents would be made homeless if they are building more accommodation?
    • Hate people who let off loud fireworks.  We had neighbours two doors down who used to let off the extremely loud fireworks in their back garden.   This was usually, but not always, on the days around Guy Fawkes and New Year’s.  It was torture.  I felt as if I was in the middle of them and it seemed as if they were directly outside our windows. I often involuntarily screamed as they were so loud and startling.  The dog was petrified and I was worried they would crash into the house or garden. Thankfully they’ve moved and taken their firework obsession with them.  I know someone whose dog collapsed and died during a bout of neighbourly fireworks.  Many dogs and cats go missing during firework season due to trying to escape from them.
    • Hi, We are looking at a property on Croxted Road near the Turney Road across the Garden Centre). I wanted to get people's sense on: 1. Road and train-line noise (house is on side sandwiched between street and the rail line) 2. Secondary schooling - lots of good state primaries, but I don't think there is a catchment for a good secondary The proximity to Herne Hilla and Dulwich Villages is nice as are properties on that street, but bit concerned about the above especially given required mortgage levels we might not be able to do private secondary. Thanks
