Mini snowboarder is to be a king in the pre school nativity....*proud*...but he needs a costume...help! I'm not really very 'crafty' - cant sew - but would like to make rather than buy so he can help me. Any ideas from seasoned Christmas nativity mums? I can imagine this will be the first of many costumes....ugh....I hate fancy dress!!

Awwww SB, make sure you take tissues. He'll be so cute.

So, look for charity shop velvet curtains as a cloak - just tack some ribbon on the top edges to tie it with; use one of your old glittery/silky dresses or tops underneath and get some silver/gold card to make a crown. You can either get 'jewels' from a craft shop (Mr Green in DV sells them I think) or you can make some from painted pasta, or bits of coloured sweetie paper bet mini SB involved if you think he'll enjoy it. PVA glue is your friend :)

I'm sure others will be along with better ideas than me, but didn't want to read & run.

The supermarkets have responded to this and do costumes for under a tenner

At the school where I taught for centuries we made a 'nativity' set of costumes and just got them down and reused them every year. No hassle for parents or staff...but laundering heaps of mucky costumes, that I don't miss!

    • But a larger number, in a more hotly contested election, didn't. It is an anomaly that Starmer won a landslide in seats with a turnout for Labour which would have shamed Labour leaders in all the 21st and much of the post war 20th century.
    • I was not suggesting anything else!   I'm not sure how you interpret what I said  as "irrelevant"? I was responding to a post saying that Corbyn was "unelectable". My point was that a  large number  of the electorate  voted for him!
    • that's exactly what happened - Brickhouse were forced to close due to rent hike and then Gail's didn't move in until covid restrictions lifted and normality resumed. Gail's would have opened much sooner as they were lined up and able to offer the landlord much higher rents. Brickhouse was a local favourite
    • The Brickhouse closed just before Covid December 2019. Nothing to do with Gails muscling in as they didn't move into till December 2022. Stop trying to fit a false narrative into a story
