fbwick
Hi, has anyone else received the notification that Hillsboro Road is to be closed to traffic during peak school hours? The letter has come from Alleyns and not the council. I?ve taken a look at the council website and can?t see any information about it. Can anyone shed any light? legalalien
https://www.southwark.gov.uk/assets/attach/25190/School-Streets-trial-notice-dated-5-Nov-2020-.pdfYes it is true - notice at this link.it's an experimental traffic order.(And yes it should refer to east dulwich grove rather than east dulwich road) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/269247-hillsboro-road-closure/#findComment-1466974 Share on other sites

northernmonkey
Hopefully this will provide a safe alternative route to cycling along east dulwich grove at school times and a link through to the closure in the village from the filtered streets in east dulwich - great news! march46
Great! That road has needed a School Street for a long time. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/269247-hillsboro-road-closure/#findComment-1467075 Share on other sites
Rockets
All the school streets are very welcome. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/269247-hillsboro-road-closure/#findComment-1467087 Share on other sites
legalalien
Agree. Not sure they?ll make great alternative cycle routes for adults though- post Covid I imagine they?ll be packed with parents / carers/ children having a pre and post pick up gossip! northernmonkey
they'll be great for the school run (ie beyond that point) though - but nothing more as the timing is very limited. ED Light
Close the South Circular for Dulwich College, Dulwich Prep, Oakfield and Rosemead?????I ditched my car over lockdown. The anti car rhetoric is a little tiresome - unless there?s a good alternative. We should all stop car use and switch to driverless pods which roam Autonomously ready to get called! fbwick
I have no issue with it being turned into a school street, just thought it was odd that this was the first I had heard of it and given that it turns my road into the drop off point for Alleyn?s parents it would have been polite to be informed. Incidentally, the signs they have put up say no entry except access. The letter makes it clear that there will be no entry for access either Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/269247-hillsboro-road-closure/#findComment-1467197 Share on other sites
Asset
There were planning notifications on the lampposts for a couple of weeks prior to it starting and then got a letter from Alley's a week before. northernmonkey
No idea why no letters from the council on that - doesn't sound right that comms only come from Alleyns, but hopefully its all self explanatory now and working well?I for one absolutely love it being a school street, its transformed cycling over there and provides a safer alternative to East Dulwich Grove for us.
