Hi everyone, I have just had an awful weekend in hospital with my 10 month baby girl. We have all had the dreaded sickness bug . we (adults in the family) were all sick lots and rushing to the toilet but my son (3) had an awful cough and cold that went to his stomach and made him sick lots. It totally wiped him out and he still has a nasty cough a week later.

But little girl got very poorly with it and could hold anything down not even calpol . She had a temperature or 39 so it was off to A&E.

Anyway to cut a long story short she was eventually admitted after our second visit to A&E on sat evening.

She is now home and holding most breast feeds down and seems a lot better despite sounding like she smokes 100 a day !


My question to all you lovely, wise people is - do you have any ideas as to what to give her in the way of solids as she seems hungry . She seems to want finger foods and I struggled before she got with ideas for healthy (easy as I find it hard with my 3 year old too) finger food that avoids choking . Then she starts to cough that is when she is sick!


Anyway this is a total ramble so will stop. Looking forward to hearing any suggestion x x

Maybe dry toast, dry bits of breakfast cereal, maybe not that healthy but better than nothing-melt in the mouth organix crisps like the corn, carrot or tomato ones (the from 7 months ones seem a bit blander so less sickening for her), don't really know what else to suggest, only I know breast milk seems least offensive when my lo is off her food. Bread/toast always next most tolerated food. Maybe leave little bits lying around so she can pick at it if she fancies it. She might just stay off food for a few days until she picks up a little more. Hope she is back to full health soon.

If you're worrying about toast disintegrating then try cutting soldiers up and bake in the oven on a low heat. Makes them really hard, which sounds counter intuitive but they can then suck on them and they slowly melt rather than breaking off in hard to swallow chunks.

Second cooked apple- I cut into wedges and then fry in the pan with a little unsalted butter and cinnamon. My LO loves them.


Also steamed/roasted veg fingers?


Steamed fish which they can break chunks off and eat?

you poor things! rice is usually recommended for upset stomachs as it has a calming effect - so perhaps rice cakes as a finger food? i'd go for the cooked apple too, and also slices of pear and banana. or grated apple can be a finger food too. or healthy fruit ice lollies? just keep it as gentle as possible for her.

    • I'm not talking about Starmer. I was responding to a post which  said that  Corbyn was unelectable. How people voted in the "more hotly contested election" is irrelevant. Corbyn wasn't leading the Labour Party then. Starmer was. And the turnout for Labour reflects that.
