ed_pete
Hmmm whilst I know this is true in some respects I find it remarkable given the abuse of the rules. There's three or four cafes on the OKR between the Bricklayers Arms flyover and the Tesco's that have always had groups of men outside socialising whilst drinking coffee (I assume) early evening. Come the heightened restrictions, they're still there but the tables and chairs have been taken away...until now. Tonight I spotted a couple of them have gotten fed up with standing up so have brought camping chairs along instead.Similar picture in Peckham at the cafe opposite Lidl. Same group of men hanging about there on a regular basis as there was before. Some people are just not going to change their behaviour. One wonders how bad things would have to get before they did. alice
Gails in dulwich village uses the plant boxes as seats. Passed by on Sunday maybe 30 people in shop and terrace. TheCat
Perhaps we could be quietly pleased that Southwark has the lowest infection rate in London? With about 0.1% of the population infected in this borough. Not saying we should relax or 'celebrate' (people have dies after all)...but perhaps not use this thread as yet another opportunity to curtain-twitch and point fingers.... One> wonders how bad things would have to get before> they did.Yes, the Nigerian takeaway opposite Lidl in Peckham had scores of men gathering all throughout the first lockdown too, moving apart every time they heard a siren. Its a pity the Police never turned off the high street and gave these people what for. Pretty shameful, and then people wonder why certain communities are hit harder with coronavirus (see the ridiculous program on channel 4 Monday night). alice
It?s easy to report such behaviour. I did with Gails. I consider ignoring it a bit like walking past an assault and doing nothing. mrwb
Could this be because it was the highest back in March ? Burnout for now. malumbu
Lets face it most of the population have become a bit lapse, not helped by DC, Johnson's mixed messages, a "I don't know anyone who has it' and 'it's OK if you are outdoors'. Back in July I was surprised how relaxed many of the London pubs were. But please don't specify individual groups, in this case North African and sub-Saharan Africa as it shows conscious or unconscious bias. There are many not from these groups misbehaving. And we should celebrate the fact that East Dulwich is only at 46.7 (per 100k) as of 19/11.https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/details/interactive-map Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/270709-southwark-lowest-rate-of-covid-infection/#findComment-1470990 Share on other sites
malumbu
In deed good to be positive. Noting the great variation ward by ward and it only takes a small localised outbreak to rain on your parade (or wee on your bonfire). Lewisham isn't far behind Southwark. For those thinking of moving to the outer boroughs they are not faring so well, you may wish to consider Thanet or Swale in Kent...... JohnL
Nationally, deaths are back up above 600 but cases are falling and falling more obviously in Londonhttps://www.standard.co.uk/news/london/london-coronavirus-cases-latest-figures-tier-2-b79014.htmlI will be alone again this XMas (and I don't mind) but why can't people use tech - telepresence is almost as good as being there - and you get to keep some privacy :) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/270709-southwark-lowest-rate-of-covid-infection/#findComment-1471043 Share on other sites
