Hmmm whilst I know this is true in some respects I find it remarkable given the abuse of the rules. There's three or four cafes on the OKR between the Bricklayers Arms flyover and the Tesco's that have always had groups of men outside socialising whilst drinking coffee (I assume) early evening. Come the heightened restrictions, they're still there but the tables and chairs have been taken away...until now. Tonight I spotted a couple of them have gotten fed up with standing up so have brought camping chairs along instead.

Similar picture in Peckham at the cafe opposite Lidl. Same group of men hanging about there on a regular basis as there was before. Some people are just not going to change their behaviour. One wonders how bad things would have to get before they did.

Perhaps we could be quietly pleased that Southwark has the lowest infection rate in London? With about 0.1% of the population infected in this borough.

Not saying we should relax or 'celebrate' (people have dies after all)...but perhaps not use this thread as yet another opportunity to curtain-twitch and point fingers....

Yes, the Nigerian takeaway opposite Lidl in Peckham had scores of men gathering all throughout the first lockdown too, moving apart every time they heard a siren. Its a pity the Police never turned off the high street and gave these people what for. Pretty shameful, and then people wonder why certain communities are hit harder with coronavirus (see the ridiculous program on channel 4 Monday night).

Lets face it most of the population have become a bit lapse, not helped by DC, Johnson's mixed messages, a "I don't know anyone who has it' and 'it's OK if you are outdoors'. Back in July I was surprised how relaxed many of the London pubs were.

But please don't specify individual groups, in this case North African and sub-Saharan Africa as it shows conscious or unconscious bias. There are many not from these groups misbehaving.

Yep fair enough there's plenty of rule breakers out there but I expect the impact is low so long as they are in the open air. And we should celebrate the fact that East Dulwich is only at 46.7 (per 100k) as of 19/11.

In deed good to be positive. Noting the great variation ward by ward and it only takes a small localised outbreak to rain on your parade (or wee on your bonfire). Lewisham isn't far behind Southwark. For those thinking of moving to the outer boroughs they are not faring so well, you may wish to consider Thanet or Swale in Kent......

The person who posted that was just looking for a reaction.

Edited to make clear that I'm not referring to malumbu!

Nationally, deaths are back up above 600 but cases are falling and falling more obviously in London

I will be alone again this XMas (and I don't mind) but why can't people use tech - telepresence is almost as good as being there - and you get to keep some privacy :)

Not at all, i was highlighting the most flagrant flouting of the lockdown i saw, even back in April and May when the whole country was terrified and 1000 people were dying each day.

Sorry- is that not allowed? Am i not allowed to report the illegal activity i saw? Jesus wept.

Er, this is your first post, apparently.

So how can you have been highlighting anything?

Unless you are Steven Taylor posting under another name.

    • In 2016 London City Airport began using concentrated flight paths. When there's a predominantly westerly wind, incoming aircraft approach from East London (north of the River. When there's a predominantly Easterly wind, incoming aircraft approach the airport from the West: circling through Forest Hill, Dulwich, Vauxhall, Tower Hamlets, Docklands. This latter flight path affects many of us in South East London. https://www.london.gov.uk/who-we-are/what-london-assembly-does/questions-mayor/find-an-answer/london-city-airport-concentrated-flight-paths The planes going into City are often below 2,000 ft, so very noisy. Sometimes we have incoming Heathrow at the same time, flying higher. The early flights that I hear e.g. 04:30 are incoming to Heathrow. They are scheduled to land at 05:30 but are 'early'. Apparently the government allows a percentage of flights to arrive early and late (but these are now established as regular occurrences, informally part of the schedule). IMHO Londoners are getting very poor political representation on this issue. Incredible that if you want to complain about aircraft noise, you're supposed to contact the airport concerned! Preposterous and designed solely in favour of aviation expansion.
    • Yet another recommendation for Jafar. Such a nice guy, really reliable and fair. He fixed a problem with our boiler and then incredibly kindly made two more visits to replace a different part at no extra cost.
    • I didn't have any problems with plane noise until city airport started flying planes to and from about 5-8 minutes apart from 5.30 am or  6 am,  and even with ear plugs and double glazing I am woken at about 6 well before I usually would wake  up. I have lived here since 1986 and it is relatively recently that the planes have been flying far too low over East dulwich. I very much doubt that they are headinbg to Heathrow or from Heathrow. As the crow flies we are much , MUCH closer to City Airport than Heathrow or Gatwick. I even saw one flying so low you could see all the windows, when I was in Peckham Rye Park.
