New ?77m funding for HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) in this Spending Review period to expand their anti-avoidance and evasion activity, specifically those focusing on offshore evasion and avoidance by wealthy individuals and by multinationals. This is expected to bring in an additional ?2bn per year in tax that would have otherwise gone unpaid

populist window dressing in the wake of Jimmy Carr.

In Zug, when you setup, it is possible to negotiate how much tax in exact terms, not % , you will pay before the business is running and cashflows are generated.

Whilst the nazi gold hoarding Swiss stop pulling rabbits like this out of their hat, this legitimate, if unsavoury, practice will continue.

*Quickly packs suitcase full of fifty pound notes and heads for Switzerland*

Quids I like your idea of emailing Amazon.

I've already used their search to get the goods I want, but searched the names of the sellers online to buy them directly.

Amazon can kiss my backside. They won't get another penny from me.

I've uninstalled Google Chrome too and gone back to Firefox. Chrome is better and Google have all kinds of other stuff to link up, but I'm going to check out alternatives. I know Yahoo do an upload docs thing and they have a calender, so I might move to them. Need to see if they are any better than Google though.

Does anyone know a search engine that comes close to being as good as Google?

Ok, I've sent this to Amazon:

"FAO the CEO of Amazon,

I have used Amazon for many years, but I will not give you another penny of my hard earned money until you pay corporation tax in the UK on the money you make here.

I will use your search facility to locate private UK registered sellers then find their online website to buy from them directly.

I hope that you rethink your immoral tax practices, or lose a huge amount of business here, because all of our services are being cut, while big corporations like you, drain money out of our country.

Amanda"

If anyone wants to complain too, here is the email link: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/customer/contact-us?ie=UTF8&browse_node_id=

You don't understand. It's romantic, not seedy.

Two people meet in the virtual world and initially hate eachother, but over time, their feelings for eachother grow and they can't keep their emotions inside.

Reality keeps on getting in the way of their budding romance, but they know they are destined to be together.

Except you've gone and spoilt it all now!

Ok, changed my search engine and calender to Yahoo from Google, plus added dropbox to dispense with Google Drive.

A bit more of a pain but not that much more. I just hope I don't get lost or have to speak German any time soon.

Also please Yahoo and Dropbox, pay your taxes!

So only: Boots, Apple, Vodaphone, ebay, Ikea, Cadbury, Johnnie Walker, Caffe Nero and Zavvi to go then...

(come on we've all been bombarded by the '38 Degrees' 12-tax-dodgers-of-Xmas poster - particularly hard to avoid Cadbury during this festive time tho' eh?)

ETA: x-posted with your new thread re the above.

    • Here to add my voice to those praising Temi. She just painted my dilapidated home office in ED and did a fantastic job in just two days in a much lighter colour, including woodwork, damp blocker and filling holes. She's efficient, on time and I barely heard a peep out of her; she just got on with the job. I recommend her wholeheartedly.
    • The residents & families of the estate are getting parking fines,  out of the blue , the residents parking system waa changed from Southern to Sippi with cameras put up in the car park and people issued with fines entering the estate for more then 10 minutes , families can no longer pick up or drop off family due to a new 10 minute wait fine. Residents are appealing with Sippi and Southern as there was no letters to consult of a parking change,  new waiting times or fines, delivery drivers are getting fines everyday,  if you get a fine,  appeal it, there is no signage up to say about parking fines or waiting time
