Haaaaaaaaaa Quids-lad...these are proper lights. With twirly tinsel up the lampposts and all.

I'm surprised, Scotslass. I can't for the life of me remember seeing them before...hopefully I shall forget again this year and will receive another pleasant surprise next year haha.

Hi Brandnewguy and Laddy Muck,

The pavement lights are being replaced with versions that can be maintained.

The old one;s were installed pre my election in 2006. Whoever planned it didnt make sure the council lighting department could maintain them. So gradually they died.

The replacements are a slightly larger bore. So the old holes have had to be dimaond drilled out. They've been temporarily tarmaced to stop them being a trip hazard.

If the original plan is stuck to - which with the very cold weather I doubt (things don't set at these temperatures) - then the new progammable LED's will be working from 17 DEcember.

I'll double check the date today.

    • I definitely have some grass cuttings, and various bits of plant cuttings etc, which has been piling up in my garden. I’ve been meaning to bag it up, but don’t have much time on account of two small children.  if that helps?
    • Walking around Belgravia and Knightsbridge stopping to look at window displays in Harvey Nics and Harrods. Tea at The Ritz and Burlington Arcade. Theatre without doubt - concert at Royal Albert Hall. Must go to Fortnum and Mason and Foyles Bookshop. London is magical at Christmas Time whoever and whatever one does. Personally, avoid Winter whatever it's called in Hyde Park - usually near Hyde Park Corner - got it Winter Wonderland. Expensive, tacky. See what’s on at Sachi Gallery in Sloane Square - sounds really crazy but a walk thru any of the parks and even a row on the Sepentine plus visit that gallery.
    • Eynella road is nowhere near the Herne Hill Oxfam shop. Do you mean Stradella?
    • Both great ideas. I went round that house in the early eighties (I think it was, may have been later),  but I think the tour is differently done now (and a lot more expensive!)
