Living about 20 miles from Glastonbury....I can assure you it is full of touristy wiccan shops that mostly smell rank.

I'm very impressed to learn that witchcraft is so bling that it sustains a troupe of wannabes.

I can imagine two badly dressed Wiccans with body odour peering disparagingly over the fence at the Johnny-come-latelys as they bury their piss in an earthenware pot.

:D :D :D

Well, if you don't mind, I'll respectfully disagree, both with the above definition of Wicca and the unnecessarily abusive references. And try to be kinder if you can manage it. The best thing about freedom of speech and religious practice is when it is exercised with thought and sensitivity. Insults aren't necessary and I doubt you'd be rude enough to use them face to face.

Have a happy Christmas. (Which has its roots in Pagan festivals, as I'm sure you know.)

There is truth in the idea that wicca is a modern religion, however it is based on traditional practices of the ancient mystery cults of Europe there are other branches of Paganism which follow traditional religious practices found in folklore and custom.

Paganism is very broad belief system based on a reverance for Nature and discovering oneself by inacting rituals using ancient dieties that speak to the various aspects of ourselves and the cycle of nature.

Some practioners believe in the ancient God/Goddesses being an aspect of a unknowable divine, others see them as Archetypes.

Most pagans are well educated and in serious professions I have know personnnely lawyers, doctor, psychologists and even a professor of physics.

We dont slander other religions and are always open to those interested. Also don't recruit people or force our beliefs on our family or friends.

Happy Yule/ Xmas to all enjoy your holiday what ever you believe in.

I always get the willies when people decide to arbitrarily 'believe in' something.

Hmmm.... What shall I choose to believe in today?

It's also apparent shaman that not all Wiccans share your sense of inclusivity - hence the insults aimed at 'wannabe' Wiccans. Hardly the signs of an open armed welcome, eh?

Wiccan, like most of the other religions involves rituals, tribalism, personal sacrifice and so on.

They all seem to be about creating a sense of security from belonging.

However, any religion that takes it self too seriously when talking about supernatural powers, be they omniscience or the power of spells and magick, deserves all the ridicule it gets.

Yes any belief system that take its self too seriously is fair game for comedy in my book but redicule and discrimination is different. In my past I have been spat at shot at bricks throw at my windows and attempted burning of myself by a group because of my beliefs, so we need to be tolerent of peoples ideas so long as they don't harm anyone . Paganism and modern witchcraft are a belief system based on as much nonsense as any other set of beliefs be it Christianity Judaism Islam Buddism or Science to name a few. All are very human creation in an attempt to understand our world and ourselves.

Merry Xmas and Happy New Year x

    • Been with The Gardens now for around 30 years and very rarely do I have a problem. I went in to collect a form and mentioned that my leg was hurting and hot- was seen immediately by the Practice nurse who then arranged an appointment on the Saturday with the Extra care service at TJ Centre where I saw a doctor, who then sent me off to Kings for further tests.. I recently booked a flu jab but appointment is in 2 weeks.
    • Have used Milk and More for years. When the price went up we cancelled a couple of pints but we still have 8 pints a week. If we are expecting family etc we buy from Sainsburys to top up. We kept on with M & M as if weather bad we could order extra stuff from them to save us a trip to Sainsburys Local. Also gives employment to our milkman.
    • Hi there, Our Lexus NX300H, (reg RF18BWO) was stolen off our driveway last night, Monday 27th October. It was there at 9pm, and had gone by 7am. If anyone has any footage on their doorbell or Ring, that would be super helpful. We have asked some neighbours and reported to the police etc.  Most upsettingly, there was a box of old family videos in the car boot, in an old Sainsburys box (photo attached). If anyone sees these dumped at the side of the road, please contact me asap! They are priceless videos that my deceased grandparents took. Thank you for any info, Jojo
