We got a Innotab last year and although there are cartridges that you can buy, there is also apps online. We've bought a few but not so many. But then it hasn't been used as much as we thought it would. If you are the kind of folk who are getting lots of apps / games etc for other devices (phones, ipads etc) then its possible that the approach will rub off on your daughter and she'll want the same for her computer. It may depend on age too. My elder daughter would probably go through more whereas the younger one is happier with less.
We bought a LeapPad2 for our almost 3 year old and he loves it. I haven't yet purchased any other apps but there's plenty on there to keep him amused and there are different levels for different ages. I was getting really over having him wanting to use my phone all the time - it's perfect for long journeys in the car. Would definitely recommend it.

Yep - both our three year old and 5.5 year old have leap pads and love them. We have bought a few apps for them, but they also come with loads on and have loads of useful features, We went on the ferry yesterday and our three year old took photos with her 'pad' the whole way.

And we sat through Dark Knight Rises with the girls in the room last night, both watching their own games/movies on the pads with their headphones on - so not traumatised by Batman's scary enemies.

A great buy IMO.

i bought the innotab 1 off ebay. can it do the same thing as number 2. also the games are so pricey does anyone know where i can get them cheaply? can the innotab 1 download games or just 2? think i may have got the wrong one.

Thought that this was a pretty good review of the Leapfrog and the VTech Innotab which seem to be the head to head competitors

Both sound pretty good!

Just to resurrect this - I have to be missing something with this leap pad business. On the strength of these recommendations we got one for our ipad loving youngest son - but where are the games already on it? And he's not really into the stylus thing? And no rechargable batteries - they seem to last 5 minutes. Argh!!

    • Its that time of year again, past Christmas day and late delayed cards are turning up. How late are your cards arriving ?  Last year I had one delivered 4 weeks late. Can that be beaten this year ?
    • Sadly, a lot of businesses didn't invite reviews on the EDF at that time due to a number of "negative nellies" that would take delight in posting unfavourable comments, often despite never being to the business in question.  No matter how good the place was, some posters would find fault that wasn't there "don't lile the colour of the bidet set in the private bathroom, avocado 😅" Can hardly blame businesses at the time for not wanting reviews on here, thankfully that has mostly changed now.
    • Was that the Hare Krishna place? I can't remember exactly where it was (or maybe still is) but it was somewhere around Oxford Street.
    • The "for sale" section on this forum lets people offer things for free or cheaply. And the "wanted" section let's people ask for things they want or need, for free or cheaply. There are also existing schemes like Freecycle, and also local  food banks. And there is (or was) a local scheme where you can bring things to be repaired free. I think it is/was based in Nunhead. Isn't that simpler than having a barter system? You might have something to give away, but the person who wants it might not have anything you want. Or have I misunderstood how it works? I can see that offering services free might not fit into existing schemes, but depending on what they were, what would happen if things went horribly wrong eg someone wrecked your house? Sorry if the above sounds very negative.
