Hi I did call and they said the learner pool is at 30C, but the reason I asked on the forum is I've been to a number of 30C pools and they range from boiling to ice cold, so thought it best to ask people who've been recently for their opinion, that's all. Thanks
  • 3 months later...

Went to Forest Hill pool yesterday afternoon just before 4 to take advantage of the lane swimming session but was told the pool was closed for the afternoon due to someone having pooed in it shortly before I arrived.

I've been enjoying swimming there for the last month or so and would like to carry on but now all I can think about is swimming in sh*t. Logically I know that pool chemicals/filters are used for this exact reason... perhaps I'll get over it. Going back today might be a bit soon for me. I'll just be doing laps thinking, 'someone shat in here yesterday.'

:-/

I've been turned away for that reason too. I'm sure it happens everywhere, and it's good that they shut the pool and clean it before letting anyone swim again. I suspect in days gone by it just would have been fished out.

You won't be drinking poo as you swim, don't worry!

I do think FH Pools should put a lower age restriction on the big pool though. No chilren under 4 perhaps. I'm sure there would be people who moaned about that, but the small pool is plenty big enough for little kids, and the large pool shouldn't be closed due to toileting accidents.

    • Disagree. Where are the police when you need them? People want a police presence, they want to feel reassured by seeing them do what the word suggests, policing, so go catch some bad guys, arrest, charge and get the CPS to prosecute with the evidence to enable this to happen. Stabbing and shootings are so common place they no longer even get reported in the public domain. How many crimes don't get solved? Rather case closed and forgotten. The number of low to high level crimes which remain unsolved is staggering.  The criminal fraternity know this, they know they won't get caught so they just carry on.  Biggest crimes which affect most people, probably are phone and car theft, both are prolific and what do the police do, diddly squat. zilch, nothing, provide a crime reference number and the case is closed. Not good enough, not by a country mile.   Met Engage? I don't think so.

Recent data suggests a drop in violent crime. Gang violence will make a significant contribution to the numbers. You are unlikely to be attacked by a stranger
    • Unfortunately there are plenty of shops which don't care and will sell vapes, alcohol and weed to minors, I'm sure they won't care about selling them fireworks. Or the kids nick them.
    • It’s getting a bit annoying. We’ve a nervous dog who trembles when they go off. I know to expect it around Halloween and Diwali but it seems to be happening more through the year.
