Morning

This site went down this morning at 3am until 8.30, I'm not sure why but it is a reminder that the forum needs a major upgrade.

This year we may have to move to new software, which would mean a different look and feel (hurrah! some of you say), you'll have to change your passwords but you'll get better features.

The forum is independent, we don't monitor your every move and then target you. We don't track your messages, friends, emotions and then use that to sell you stuff. Aside from the adverts on the side, everything here is written by you.

So just a warning that the software it runs on will hopefully change this year, which might be a little bit of pain for a lot of gain. 15 years without a major change isn't bad.

We're currently looking at using PHPBB3 as the new software if you know any PHPBB? expert please send them my way. If anyone has any other suggestions for forum software please let me know.

Have a lovely day.

Agreed. It was a pity a lot of threads disappeared last time, though understandable.

And it would be great to have some warning if our PMs are going to disappear!

All threads will be kept if I have my way. I'm not aware of a previous time where lots of threads disappeared.

And yes, old Private Messages might have to go as they're tricky to migrate, so you will get plenty of warning if that has to happen.

    • I’d also recommend Paul for electrical work. He came round the other week to help us out with a handful of jobs (installing an SPD, new light fittings, installing a dimmer switch, a bathroom fan). His quote was cheaper than what I got from others, he turned up on time and he got the job done quickly.
    • We’d like to add our recommendation for Lukasz and team at L&L Building & Maintenance.  Lukasz has recently installed a roof terrace for us, and we’ve found him a pleasure to work with from start to finish. We contacted about a dozen recommended builders and found his quote very competitive. During the build his team delivered quality work, they were no hassle in the house at all and they kept the place tidy every day. The terrace looks great, and we’re very happy customers. What stood out in particular was Lukasz’s responsiveness, right from discussing quotes to follow-up during the build. Lukasz often checked in and was always available when we needed him.  We’ll definitely contact Lukasz again for future building work and we’d happily recommend him to others looking for a reliable builder.   Lukasz Kugaczewski L&L Building & Maintenance 07926651960 [email protected] www.landl-build.com
    • Yes, I did mention the train, which I now get from East Dulwich to Guys instead of the 40. Depends where in East Dulwich you are starting from which route is easiest! I think it is probably lack of staff rather than lack of hospitals which is the problem?
    • What can be done? How about reporting it to the police?
