We are having a party for our daughter and would like to look into getting in some catering, primarily for the kids (aged 2-4y). We are not sure of the numbers, maybe around 20. It is likely we would do the catering ourselves but looking into other options for various reasons.

Thanks!

p.s recommendations for birthday cakes welcome, too

Hi, I can't help with the catering I'm afraid but can recommend ordering a personalised M & S birthday cake. I have had 4 over the last couple of years and they have all been lovely and way cheaper than ordering from a bakery. The Noah's Arc is particularly nice, we had that for our son's 1st birthday and have just had the train for his second!

We regularly use M&S for parties, including all the sandwich platters, desserts and most of there other party nibbles too!

After you have bought all the bits in yourself and then spent all your time making the sandwiches etc they never look the same or taste as good as we think the M&S ones do.

You may as well save yourself some time (and perhaps spend a little more money - although we always think it works out to be quite cost effective as long as you are careful not to over order) and enjoy what M&S have to offer!

They usually only need 5 working days for an order, and in some cases for basic sandwiches just 2 days.

Would definitely recommend.

Thanks, jayd5, for the recommendation.

I think I felt I 'ought' to do some of the catering in true mum-style but might just order in and save us the major hassle, spend the time with my daughter instead and actually enjoy the build up to her party, as well as the party itself!

Over the years I have progressed from making my own ornate cakes to buying expensive cakes from cake makers, this year I bought the mega tray bake from Sainsburys for ?10, son declared it the best cake he had ever seen and all his friends went mad for it. Tray bake from now on.

I am a highly experienced and skilled cook and baker.

I bake amazing cakes and can also offer you catering for a package good deal.

If you are interested please pm me.

Thank you to the businesses and entrepreneurs for the links to your work (both via the thread and PMs) - they look amazing. Unfortunately, on this occassion we have left things a little late and we have very little/zero free time in which to consider your offers. Hopefully, for the next party we will be able to take you up on your offers and support your work. Good luck to you all!

    • Thanks all, our hope was (despite the diminishing estate) he would get on with it.  Progress is glacial, it's been two years since probate was granted, that's two cold and damp winters with no heating, and not surprisingly a pipe burst. He's blames the issues on the estate agent, who separately had a dispute with him, he had a wobbly when one of the beneficiaries spoke to the estate agent.  Separately he said it was the family's fault for letting the property get into a poor condition.  It was dated, but certainly not in poor condition. There are two five star reviews on Google, and five one star: ** WARNING** This solicitor firm has to be one of the worst I have encountered. The solicitor is prehistoric in his practices and will carry out work at his own snails pace, the fax machine he uses gets turned off at 2 pm and its near impossible to get him on the phone. STAY AWAY, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED, check the solicitors ombudsman, this firm has previous bad practice recorded.   Disgusting under no circumstances use this solicitor. For over 10 years he has not carried out the terms of a Will he has not re-invested money but has retained it.  He writes letters which are pure "Flannel" excuses for doing nothing.  You have been warned   shocking experience, delayed the whole process, told other side solicitors to not contact him as he feels pressured etc. never use.   Not fit for 21st century. No website, no email address, no electronic transfer. Very slow, very little communication.   Was not a pleasant experience dealing with this firm
    • If you mean the one outside the church going towards Peckham, it still had the closed sign on it this morning, but as there are no road works there, I'm sure some of the drivers will stop there on request.  The stop outside the chippy coming from Peckham is closed as there are road works in front of it.  The 4 way traffic lights are in operation.., causing a lot of congestion.
