  1. I?ve been to all but one of the CPs and for the cycling and pool area Longleat is my favourite. It?s got a lovely lake area, much bigger than Woburn. It is quite hilly there so little ones might struggle cycling if they are not confident cyclists. My 6 yr old really enjoyed it but he?s quite strong with loads of energy to burn! There is a land train that you can take if cycling gets too much. Unlike Woburn I think you do need a bike at Longleat as it is a vast area to cover on foot. If you got to try the spa at Woburn you?d be a bit disappointed at Longleat, for that Woburn is definitely better. Woburn also has a much better lazy river, the Longleat one is tiny and doesn?t have the rubber rings. The actual pool is bigger/ better though. Elveden might be a good option as it?s bigger than Woburn but much flatter than Longleat so easier to cycle. It was my least favourite CP but I can?t really remember why as was a few years ago! We?ve always done the midweek break and at Longleat took a day out to go the safari park which is right next door and well worth a visit. There is also a lot more wildlife at Longleat, we had deer walking past the lodge a few times as well as ducks at the back door. Hope that helps!
  2. I took my son to see the Lion King for his 6th birthday, he absolutely loved it. I definitely think it helped that he knew the story very well, he'd been to lots of shorter children's shows but I was glad I waited til he was a bit older for a big (expensive!) show.
  3. We used these people a couple of years ago, wasn't cheap but they did a very thorough job cleaning inside and out, and were nice guys too http://www.allseasonsplus.co.uk/
  4. Yes definitely take a copy of the long birth certificate with your name on. I also take a copy of my partner's passport and a letter from him acknowledging he knows what I'm doing. That is only really worth doing if it is notarised I think. I've always been asked at Gatwick if I have birth certificate and told I must travel with it.
  5. Re the siblings question, the answer is no there's no way to be sure of numbers. I work in a school office and the only siblings we know about are the ones currently attending our nursery, gives a ball park figure but not an accurate one....
  6. Crystal Palace is good for young ones as has an earlier show at 7pm for children
  7. Friddles cakes are fab https://m.facebook.com/friddlescakes/
  8. Second Friddles, amazing cakes! I've just ordered my third one.... Oops make that third recommendation!
  9. Another very energetic boy here (age 5) who couldn't understand why school "finishes in the middle of the adternoon" when he started last Sep. He does activities every day and is still not tired!! I do think it depends on each child though, their energy levels and what they are used to. My son went to nursery 8am - 5:30/6pm four days a week from the age of one so I guess a 3:15pm finish at school does seem early to him. He's about to go into year 1 so will be monitoring tiredness as the homework increases.
  10. We did the St Dunstans assessment last year, the children were taken into a room and observed playing, listening to a story/answering questions and drawing a picture from what I can remember. It was all very friendly and in no way a "test". They said they were looking for children who engaged and were curious, not necessarily the cleverest!
  11. La Jolie Ronde have a class in Gypsy Hill on Saturday at 10am, my son has been taught you Gabriel since he was 3 (now 5) and seems to enjoy it http://www.lajolieronde.co.uk/find-a-class/?Location=Se22&Distance=10
  12. Our school lets reception and year 1 children wear PE kit to school on that day, takes too long for some of them to get changed themselves, so no need for a PE bag! Also think the charm or name tag is a good idea to identify bag in amongst the rest of the class...
  13. My 5 year old loves the Micro Sprite 2 wheeler, it's very sturdy and ok for adults to use too, much to my son's amusement :-)
  14. No but have booked my 5 yr old for a couple of days in half term!
  15. Supercamps at St Dunstans go up to 14 with different activities... Currently have 15% off summer holiday bookings
  16. Also recommend Friddles,Em is very creative and the cakes are delicious!
  17. There's also Super Camps at St Dunstans, no experience but am considering it
  18. It's an awkward age for this! You could wrap a sheet tightly round the bed to help prevent falling out, or put the bed's mattress on the floor?
  19. It probably depends how big your child is. I only have one who is tall and heavy and started going over the handlebars of the micro so he's just got a 2 wheeler at age 5 which he loves, it's very nippy!
  20. Mr Fruitcake is good, we had him for 4th and 5th birthday as my son enjoyed it so much! http://mrfruitcake.co.uk/index.html
  21. Yes I second Friddles, she did a fantastic batman cake for my son, you can see it on her Facebook page :-)
  22. We had Boppin Bunnies when my son was 2, was good fun! http://www.boppinbunnies.co.uk/
