Very red and sore under the nose

My little one has been snotty, and now has quite an angry looking sore area under her nose. Any tips onhow to treat it? Can Savlon be applied to this area?

If the area is not infected (pus) then best treatment is Vaseline or diprobase.

There is a lip salve called cymex that I find is brilliant for areas of red, raw skin. It's a very mild emollient.

Nappy cream around the nose. Also Kleenex balsam tissues. xx

My daughter gets this a lot, she's a very snotty child! We alternate between savlon and e45. We took her to the see the Dr at one stage when it started to look a bot nasty and were given an antibiotic cream (fusidin?) and advised to use it whenever it looks angry. We have done and touch wood her nose has been much better. Oh and we make sure put a lot on when she's asleep.

I find savlon can really sting patches of eczema, and Vaseline always really exacerbated it

My little one has the same thing. Have been using Vaseline the past couple of days and really helps. by coincidence was at dermatologist for my other little one today and asked whether this was a good way of dealing with the problem and she felt it was the best. good luck.

Also don't let them blow their nose on toilet paper - that causes sores. Always use tissues or kitchen roll

Kitchen roll?!?!? That's like blowing your nose with sandpaper! (I know this because I am snotty all year round, and am always looking for something to blow my nose in to).

Metanium at night, during the day Bepanethan or Drapolene (as alternatives to Savlon, if irritating). xx
