I would like to tap into the collective well of knowledge in this Forum if I may.

Although of course we are able to look up statistical details re: these three primary schools in Forest Hill, including their Ofsted status, it is hard to find out what these schools are really like and in particular what parents think about them.

The statistics do not give any information about important aspects of school life such as art, music, drama and opportunities to play outside etc.

We are moving to Forest Hill, to a location pretty much equidistant from these 3 schools, in June and have a vague preference for Eliot Bank but only because it is "outstanding" rather than "good" according to Ofsted.

Any insight would be very much appreciated!

They are all excellent schools so if your children go to any one of them they will be fine. All have quite small catchments so it may come down to where you find a house. Dont just go by Ofsted ratings- they were all set a long time ago and cant be regraded any higher. My kids are at Horniman- it's the smallest of the schools so has a great community feel and strong on arts.

    • We've been using Modern Milkman for six months or so.  Good and reliable service and intuitive website
    • The receptionist did request a phone call and there was an issue where seeing the symptoms would have been helpful , plus I had questions I wanted to ask - but I just got a text with very generic advice (e.g. if X happens, go to A&E).  You can definitely request routine appointments by phone. Perhaps it's at the doctor's discretion with same day ones.  Having said all that, I think it's a pretty good surgery compared to some.
    • I recommend Andy—he was punctual, tidy, resourceful, clear about timing and pricing, and did quality work at relatively short notice. I would use his services again and have already recommended him to friends.
    • You can still  request a phone appointment with a doctor, I think, if it's an issue you need to ask questions about? Or, I have had questions quickly answered by a GP  via their online system. Hopefully all this is teething problems, and the staff as well as patients are having to get to grips with a relatively new system. I can fully understand that it is much better all round if GP face to face appointments are saved for things that need a physical examination, and it must mean that patients who do need one  are seen more quickly than under the old system?
