Am thinking of joining LLL - I gather there isn't an ED branch, but there seems to be one in Clapham and one in Catford, not sure about other nearby locations.

Is anyone here a member, or happens to know people from ED / Camberwell / Peckham / Nunhead who are, and which one is more usual / recommended?

Never joined, but contacted them once when baby no 1 was about ten months old and I was still expressing at work. I had a day when I pumped three times and produced about 1 oz total. They were great. Emailed me straight back, called me too I think. Very helpful and incredibly understanding.

They do have online groups I think, if that would help. But I can see that if you can get to them that would be even better. Like I say, can't speak highly enough of them.

Although, I did draw the line at adopting their idea of tandem feeding 1 and 2 after I gave birth a second time. I weaned my first with a few weeks to go instead....

Thanks! That's very helpful. Don't suppose it much matters which one I join, especially if (as 150+ views and 1 reply suggest) no one local is going to either. Given the demographic here, I suppose the fact that there isn't actually an ED branch is probably quite telling.

But at any rate neither Clapham nor Catford is exactly miles and miles away either... I can always just toss a coin ;-)

I am a member, but never attend meetings as they don't suit me time wise and I don' feel the need as such to attend, already busy enough! I do love receiving breastfeeding matters magazine and the membership is worth it for that alone. It gives me a little boost and makes me feel good about continuing to breastfeed my son when I sometimes get down and question myself, I realise I am not the only one that feels that way and it reminds me about all the great things about breastfeeding.

Back on topic, what I assume is the Catford group, usually meets at the house of a woman that lives near Blythe Hill Fields. I think it is probably not a huge group, but I have heard 2nd hand the woman that runs the group is lovely.

Thanks again - sounds promising! And actually having done a bit more thorough research of the locations, looks like the Clapham group is quite a bit further out (Tooting / Balham area) whereas Catford group is close to Honour Oak so probably a bit more convenient...

Sorry - will do my homework next time before hassling all you good people on here!

I dint think that (and self describing as a Marxist) would have helped much when Labour was changed under Starmer. There was a purge of people as far left as him that he was lucky to survive once in my opinion.   Stuff like this heavy endorsement of Momentum and Corbyn. It doesn't wash with a party that is in actual government.   https://labourlist.org/2020/04/forward-momentum-weve-launched-to-change-it-from-the-bottom-up/
    • I perceive the problem.simply as spending too much without first shoring up the economy.  If the government had reduced borrowing,  and as much as most hate the idea, reduced government deiartment spending (so called austerity) and not bowed to union pressures for pay rises, then encouraged businesses to grow, extra cash would have entered the coffers and at a later stage when the economy was in a stronger position rises in NI or taxes would have a lesser impact, but instead Reeves turned that on its head by increasing ni which has killed growth, increased prices and shimmied the economy.  What's worse is that the perceived 20 billion black hole has increased to 30 billion in a year. Is there a risk that after 5 years it could be as high as 70 billion ???
    • That petition is bananas.   If you want a youth centre there pay the landlord the same rent a Londis would and build it yourself or shut the f**k up to be honest. Wasting our MPs time with this trivial nonsense is appalling. If your kids are still out at 1am on a school night you've got bigger problems than vapes and booze and hot sausage rolls.
