From Dulwich Park Friends.

We have our first volunteer litter picking session of 2021 on Monday 19th April from 8-9.30am. Last year's sessions were both a great success and rewarding too - the park staff really appreciate our help so that they can get on using their skills to keep the park looking so good.

If you would like to join us, please meet from 7.45 am for a briefing so that we can start at 8 am.

The meeting area will be in front of the Francis Peek Centre (Carpark side).

Trevor from the Friends and Idverde Development Officer Natalie will be there to meet and greet the volunteers and run through a quick safety briefing.

We will provide bin bags, litter grabbers and gloves. Please bring your own masks/face coverings and your own hand sanitiser.

The litter pick will be finishing at 9:30 am when free coffee & tea will be served at the cafe provided by our friends at The Dulwich Clock Cafe (Colicci).

We will be aiming to do this each Monday - so save the slot in your calendar and join us if you can.

Best wishes,

Dulwich Park Friends

    • I know people won’t have any sympathy but the SEND challenge was brought up when taxing parents who have opted for independent school to meet a child’s SEND needs. Funding crisis is getting worse and the VAT on Education pushed children out of independent schools, now their SEND needs are to be met by the state.
    • I completely agree with you - and last night was really terrible where I am. Between midnight and 1am was the worst, where it genuinely felt like a war zone. I had to run out of my house to try and stop a grown man setting them off in open space right by our front doors. In response he went to throw a half lit one at me and then seemed to think better of it. I am so sad at how bad the situation has got here and how selfish people are. Fireworks are bad for the environment and for pets and wildlife, as well as just being unnecessary noise for people too. I have sent an email today to Helen Hayes, which I have done previously on this issue. Would advise anyone to write to your MP to do the same, and to ask them to engage with the debates scheduled for 19 Jan.
    • And they started long before midnight!
    • First mate - I wondered if I was imagining things at 4.45 this morning . Apparently not .
