Can anybody recommend a cheap helpful little garage reasonably near Grove Lane/Dog Kennel Hill Road?

I'm visiting my daughter (only recently moved here - she's the one registered on this forum) and the car I borrowed has a flat tyre. the car is not covered by the AA.

Thirty odd years ago I would have changed it myself, but at nearly 70 it is beyond me.

I went there for a new tyre.. They told me they would have to order one and it could take some time

as my tyre was not gerally available..

I drive a Ford Escort Encore 1.6. Not exactly a specialist car.

Most tyres can't be repaired if you drive on them flat for even a short distance, as the sidewalls break down. So, Kwikfit get to sell you a new one in most cases. It's really quite clever.

Melbourne Tyres sounds really nice over the phone, but cannot come out as he works on his own.

The local Kwikfit says they cannot come out - I have to contact the national Kwikfit Mobile Service.

And they want details of existing wheel and tyre sizes.

A tomorrow job. Sigh.

they have always been decent when i go in - changing over a full set of wheels for one I had obtained elsewhere for free & a puncture repair for nowt, apart from a fiver or whatever for a "drink". pretty sure they have some kind of company policy to do small bits and pieces for free.
