Went to DH @ this morning for blood test and waited 3 hours

Took my mum to ED today at 1.30pm .

I've been to ED Hospital a couple of times with my Mum and Dad and waited over an hour and a half.

Went at 1pm last Friday. Walked straight in, blood first go and couldn't of had a nicer lady!

The lovely lady who did my mum said that GP surgeries were laying off staff ,one practice nurse where there used to be 2 and less blood tests being carried out at surgeries .

So more pressure on clinic .

Yes I've heard this and probably explains long waits (sometimes) at DH. My Mum usually goes to King's and she is seen very quickly at the clinic. Although in some departments their blood taking isn't that good.

If you have to have blood taken on a regular basis it can make you very apprehensive every time you go, especially if you have a bad experience.

We go to DH because the staff are so good at taking blood - like lots of elderly it's difficult with my mother and the bruises and huge lump left by less experienced people are horrendous .

Plus you can park !!!!!

They do. I think from 7.30am to about 4.30pm. I went recently but I was referred by my GP.

I work in Dulwich Hospital, and there's a bit of confusion with the blood dept opening times - some GPs still give their patients the old forms to take to their blood tests, which have outdated information on.

The blood test dept is open Mon-Fri, from 7.30 to 15.45.

I'd highly recommend that if you're swinging by later in the day you try and get there at least 15 minutes before it closes, as they tend to be quite prompt about shutting up shop and don't make exceptions for people who have turned up a few minutes late.

My mother went a week ago, in and out within 45 mins after arriving at noon. A couple of years back, she went at 1pm and was seen straight away.
