Little Clipper

I am writing this as I still feel upset after my sons haircut yesterday. It's the 3rd time I've been there and definitely won't be going back. My son is not yet 2 and has a lot of energy. I feel his behaviour in the car chair was fine, especially as I was holding his head still. His hair was quite long - but nice and looked soft and suited his face. I asked for a little trim - tidy up the ends. Throughout the cut the lady was huffing and repeatedly ask him to sit still. I held his face so she could cut the back. When I looked she had cut the back much shorter than expected and straight across - I Said 'gosh that's really short' she replied - 'well he won't sit still, with children that can't stay still you need it short!' She asked about the front and I said , just take a tiny bit off the fringe - leave the sides, as I could see she wanted to cut them right off as well. She had no patience, clearly was in a rush and appeared to have no experience with small children. My son now has a short layered bob - I thought I would let it go and just wanted out of the shop, but have woken up this morning to it looking ridiculous! I know if I complained she would probably ask me to come back and get it fixed - but there is no way I am getting any more hair off. I payed ?9 for that - the 3 times I've been there I have paid a different price - lucking that was the cheapest!! Rant over!! Luckily my boys hair grows quick and he likes to wear hats!!!

Dad used to cut our hair, anything showing under the upturned pudding basin on my head came off, the girls looked OK but not the boys, never paid a penny.

I always thouight that those sharp long scisors near my eyes and ears made me keep still.

If we got cut mum dabbed some brown Iodine on the cut, and said its your own fault.

There is one lady in there who is quite grumpy about even slightly fidgety children. Was quite a difference experience to the other two we have seen. Does seem a bit odd to choose to work in a childrens hair salon if they irritate you...

Unfortunately I can't remember what her name was but the other two were absolutely lovely!

a hairdresser friend of mine advised me to cut my daughter's hair at home like this - pick up her hair in sections, one lock at a time (in the way that hairdressers pick hair up when applying colouring treatments), twist each lock and snip it on the slant.

Make sure that each lock is snipped the same length. It's best for short-ish cuts. and helps avoid the pudding bowl look!

We did this until it was time to start school and she was able to sit still for a professional haircut.

I have taken my small son here a couple of times and found them to be fantastic. My son is an absolute nightmare and hates having his hair cut. He won't sit still for a second and is generally an absolute pain for the girls there. They are very good with him and although a little firm at times that I need to try and get him to sit still, they do a great job. I wouldn't want to cut hair at all let alone on a moving target!

    • Yup. At best I have people who detest Trump shrugging and saying something like “what ya gonna do?” Like that is any kind of answer what we gonna do is condemn, and watch out for same happening here - and watch out for all the handmaidens who would allow this to happen.  Apologists for Farage, Jenrick etc
    • There are plenty of Jewish people on these marches, who have every right to stand up and say not in our name. A Jewish bloc attends every single one: https://jfjfp.com/voices/jjp-at-the-gaza-demonstrations/ Jewish peoples lives are being made less safe by this war, as we recently saw in Manchester and in the clear increase in antisemitism. They want to see Peace, and this will only happen with justice for the Palestinians. Most have - within living memory - members of their families who have been murdered by an authoritarian regime. They know what they are seeing and why they are marching. Calling going on march 'indulging in Jew hatred' is just ridiculous. You've clearly never been on one. Engage your critical faculties and think about why these marches are being smeared, rather than spouting what the right wing press and home secretary tell you.
    • Thank you for posting that. Chilling.
    • It amazes me how little outrage there actually is. The US is very clearly, and very quickly falling into autocracy. And as noted above, there are an alarming number in the UK who appear to support the direction the US is taking.
