Fun and welcoming taekwondo classes for children in Peckham Rye

Recommended Posts

Join us at Walters Family School of Taekwondo for martial arts and fitness classes for kids and adults.

Kids beginners classes run every Tuesday and Thursday from 5:00 ? 5:40 and every Saturday from 12:00 ? 12:40.

Where?

In our Dojang on the first floor of 135 Rye Lane (upstairs from Khan's Bargains) or online via zoom.

How does it work?

Children can join all classes either at the dojang or via Zoom ? Perfect for days when getting to a class would be difficult. Every class is different, but children can expect to learn kicking, hand striking, self-defence, stability, and balance. Parents of small children are welcome to stay and support their child until they feel settled.

Taekwondo improves fitness, flexibility, and confidence. Kids can gain the pride and satisfaction of learning a new skill. And it's a great way to tire them out!

Are the classes covid secure?

We worked hard to create a safe and well-thought-out phased return to the dojang to ensure we can all train safely. Under 18s are now allowed to work in pairs/small groups in their own set area of the dojang. Instructors wear masks unless social distanced, and the dojang is deep cleaned every day. You can read our post-covid risk assessment and implementation plan at http://walterstaekwondo.com.

How much does it cost?

The first session is free. You can then either pay as you go for ?10 a lesson or choose one of our membership options which start at ?35 per month. You can pause or cancel membership at any time.

Let us know if you have any questions. We look forward to welcoming you and your children to the dojang!

My son has been going to Walters for years and loves it. His self-esteem and fitness has flourished, and he looks forward to it every week. Even during lockdown they did online lessons and headings and theory lessons to keep the children engaged and motivated. Was an absolute lifesaver during lockdown. When the dojang reopened it felt very safe with the safety measures they put in place, and they kept us very informed at every stage. Daniel is an excellent teacher and he is brilliant with children. Highly recommend.
I can really recommend Walter Taekwondo too - my son has been going to Daniel?s classes for years and he?s gained so much from it. The online classes kept him busy & fit over lockdown and were the only online thing he wanted to do on zoom once he got sick of everything else! Daniel is brilliant with the kids and is a really inspiring coach.

    • Another recommendation for Oddbods. As proof of our satisfaction we've asked them to return for some more jobs, which is sign we were happy with their work
    • Most of the groceries shops in Lordship Lane have a security presence…curious thing is I and another woman recently saw a shop lifter lift and not pay for a couple of packet of steaks, veg and bottle of wine..  Literally walked Pat the tills, one member of staff and security guard despite someone else going in front by a few people and mentioning person in question! I have to say, speechless and admired their bravado - I would not have the guts and knowing my luck, if I accidentally didn’t put something tru the till despite receipt would prob get stopped! Yes, worked with families, homeless and other people who were struggling for food so I do understand why they do it.. sad when you think about it, that in this day and age, all sorts of c people need assistance and help from community in general, food banks, olio etc….
    • Just not keen to have all these  things  in my body… having said  that, thinking about Covid again as need to come to London to two hospitals for poss overnight stays.
    • And another one, number 6, has just gone passed as well!  I presume that the LTNs are blocking them from a more useful route. Or the surrounding road works.
