Spartacus
The 19th of July (tomorrow) is being dubbed freedom day after a long lockdown. Numbers of covid cases are on the rise and hospital cases are also starting to show an uptick.Question is will you A) Keep taking the same precautions as you have been for the last few months (masks, a bit of social distancing, respect others space)B) Throw caution to the wind and gladly get rid of restrictions.or C) A combination of both depending on where you are and what you are doing. KidKruger
A.There?s no ?freedom? in jeopardy whatsoever. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/289677-freedom-day-poll/#findComment-1524825 Share on other sites
lameduck
I am old, so carry on as before, with masks. But I am now frightened as the youngsters are all ready throwing caution to the wind.More worried now than beginning of lock down, I have had two jabsand will have whatever boosters are recommended.I will feel more of a prisoner tomorrow. jimlad48
C - I'm double jabbed and relatively relaxed about COVID so happy to just crack on with life and not worry too much about things. I'll keep a mask handy for the odd rare occasion, but otherwise intend to live life as normal. KidKruger
My friend?s Son (18) has this attitude too.Unfortunately he?s got infected and now the whole house is isolating so his Mum (teacher), Dad (hospitality), Sister (hospitality) cannot work and his other sister cannot attend school.I respect everyone?s feelings of wanting to ?get back to normal? but the impacts of one?s individual infection are very far from individual. If one is infected and near other people you will infect someone. How those infected by those expressing their ?freedom? are able to physically cope with that and the impact on their work and home life are presumably of no interest to the infector.jimlad48 Wrote:-------------------------------------------------------> C - I'm double jabbed and relatively relaxed about> COVID so happy to just crack on with life and not> worry too much about things. malumbu
Bigger issue is those who haven't got vaxxed. We know about the hard line anti-vaxxers but it is the 18 - 25 years olds that bother me where take up is still pretty low. And BBC aren't giving daily vaxes any more as the number of first timers is relatively low.In the great scheme of thing it is most likely that the young unvaxxed wont be wearing masks, ironic that older people double vaxxed are more likely to do.TBH figures are going to get quite scary so I expect that we will increasingly stay away from crowds. What we do is probably pretty irrelevant seeing as we have had the super spreader events - Wembley, Formula 1, and now with the clubs opening.... Earl Aelfheah
The government really need to be clear what the strategy is. It seems likely they're looking to vaccinate as many over 18s and those in vulnerable groups as possible and letting everyone else catch it, in the hope that we reach 'herd immunity'. If so, then they need to spell it out.If that is not the plan, then I don't understand what the hell Johnson is up to, because opening up right now doesn't make any sense. BrandNewGuy
C - possibly A, but it's clear from the evidence so far of hospitalisations and deaths that the Delta variant is significantly milder in its impact than previous variants and the 'original' virus. And that's the ONS saying that, not just some government mouthpiece. And the variant has been here for two months now, so the evidence is more than just a snapshot.https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/healthandsocialcare/conditionsanddiseases/articles/coronaviruscovid19/latestinsights#overview Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/289677-freedom-day-poll/#findComment-1525100 Share on other sites
DulwichFox
I will continue go wear my mask.. More important now than Ever.. Many young people out and about unvaccinated. Many older people also still unvaccinated. People cheering hollowing and shouting.. thinking it's All over.. It's not All over. Possible just started. We relaxed the Rules.. Several sporting events with 10 x 1,000's attending. Then 2 weeks later 30,000 - 50,000 new case each day. Blamed on New Covid Variant. nothing to do with New Variant. It's probably down to lack of social distancing. The new relaxation will end in disaster. Wait and see in 1 - 2 months time..
