I feel uncomfortable that only me and one other person have acknowledged this murder in our neighbourhood on the EDF.

The news doesn't quite fit under the banner "General ED issues/gossip" because it feels disrespectful to describe it as gossip, but in the Lounge there have been 693 views of a thread about this and only 1 comment.

I wonder why this is? The last murder I can remember in ED generated a thread of 5 pages.

I hope with all my heart that it's that people don't know what to say, rather than thinking "oh well it was just a domestic, doesn't affect me".

I think it is shocking and I am pretty certain everyone else who has read it does too. However, yes, it feels disrespectful to comment on something so horrendous but with no information at all about what happened. I guess there may also be concerns about respecting privacy of relatives and potential legal issues.

what is there to say? I do not feel it is ok for a local chat forum to run a discussion about this. We see the reports - a horrible incident which we do not know the in and outs of - what is there to comment upon - it goes without saying that this sounds like a horrible tragedy - possibly domestic violence BUT we do no not know.

I think the respectful silence speaks volumes actually and glad that people are not chipping in with their unfound opinions.

We have no idea of the motives or circumstances.

Pausing to reflect on the horror, sadness and waste is more suited to the terrible event than taking to a public forum to suggest that an absence of comment is a poor reflection on society's take on whichever social or political cause one has, however worthy and widely supported.

Each of the silent 690+ views could be taken as a five-second digital paying of respects rather than an intimation of callous disregard.

It is the contrast to other threads about recent murders that struck me. People felt the need to pay their respects then, rather than keep silent. I'm not sure what the silence represents but I don't think it is mawkish to want to acknowledge this particular loss of life in our neighbourhood. We're all different, I guess.

The murder of this woman is clearly tragic, of course, but I believe so little is known about it (I believe that there has been an arrest) that commentary would seem to be otiose (and would now be covered by sub judice rulings).

Many people die locally each year, each death will be a personal tragedy for some. It may be for this that when and if full details emerge there may be issues of wider concern which require, or allow, commentary. But the lack of commentary at this stage suggests a (surprising) thoughtfulness and reserve in EDF-ers I would suggest.

I think people often turn a blind eye to domestic violence I can't believe the sil is about respect etc from over 600 posts. People aren't generally silent through respect on here and it sounds have found fine to comment on other deaths.. And other assaults people weren't quiet then out of respect. I feel silence reflects blind eye and not wanting to get involved. I can't believe comments saying we don't know what happened. It's clear a woman was murdered.. What circumstance would make that OK!? A domestic violence one it seems

Posts have been deleted by admin. Rightly so, this is a murder investigation and our thoughts are with the woman?s family.

There is a post collecting money on the forum

Just because people aren?t gossiping certainly doesn?t mean they don?t care.

I?ve also taken the relative silence as people not knowing what to say or not knowing quite what has happened.

For the sake of clarification, Beatrice who was 36, worked at The French Cafe and was a wonderfully warm and welcoming presence there, was murdered at home last week. her colleagues at the cafe who were her good friends are understandably utterly devastated.

Beatrice was a very loving single mother to a daughter at a local primary who has additional needs and learning support and I would imagine will also need specialist emotional support now having been at home when this horrific event unfolded.

Beatrice?s ex husband was also present at the scene and is in custody. Police are not making enquiries about anyone else.

Beatrice?s mother will now raise her granddaughter and the French Cafe are raising money to help her because with the little girl?s existing needs and the further support she will undoubtedly need now, that will be a real challenge financially. You can either donate in the cafe where they have a collection pot or via the bank details on the other thread which I will seek out and cut and paste below in a minute. Xx

    • Nothing to do with the tories overspending whatsoever eh! Blame the last 10/11 years of blatant mismanagement, incompetence and willful deceit on the poor bastards that were left with the fall out of a complete car crash tory government.   One PM after another falling on their sword. Open corruption and piss taking throughout covid and a legacy of huge debt and destruction yet in your view it will be labour's 4 years in power that bankrupts us in 2029.  Another one that must think people are blind and stupid.  Rejoice rejoice. It's a pity he and his fellow clowns were completely annihilated at the ballot box. I mean they were doing so well after all 🙃🙃
    • Where did I say he did a good job? Yup and Corbyn was very close to Len McCluskey and funded by Unite wasn't he...they're all as bad as each other... Labour have to purge their party of the far-left - they're a disaster. Allan Johnson summed it up so well on election night in 2019....
    • Thank you for the detailed advise @trinidad It is definitely damage we are concerned about. I don’t think Evri would agree to pay the bill to fix our gate or letter box if they were to be damaged as a result of their delivery drivers helper. Our doorbell can be heard from outside when rung so we don’t quite believe the aggressive simultaneous door/letter box banging is necessary. It can be quite a shock it is done very aggressively.  I’ll definitely action the steps you’ve kindly provided along with a phone call tomorrow. I do sympathise with the role drivers have and how busy they are, which is why we tried communicating directly with her but sadly we haven’t succeeded
    • What outcome would you like? Disciplinary action? Not to have the driver back? Retraining? I know there is alot of pressure on drivers to deliver within a set day. if he slams the gate, is it evidence he is causing damage, or is the noise a irritant to yourself? You could put a sign up or buy a signing asking to close the gate gentle???? can you hear the door bell from the door? he might be ringing, not hearing and therefore knocking. In trhe notes section of the be livery page, there is a note section, although there is not 100 per cent these notes would be read as these drivers are constantly rushing.  I did a google search for you, i found this and you can try the envri website Contact Us | Evri   To complain to Evri, you can follow these steps: Contact Customer Service: Call Evri's customer service at 0330 808 5456 for assistance with your complaint.    1 Write a Letter: Address your complaint to Capitol House, 1 Capitol Close, Morley, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS27 0WH.    1 Use the Official Website: Visit the Evri complaints page on their official website for detailed instructions on how to submit a complaint.    2 Email or Call for Specific Issues: For issues like missing or damaged parcels, you can email or call 0800 988 8888, which is free to call.    1 These methods will help you effectively communicate your concerns to Evri.   My driver is called anthony, he is brilliant to be honest. I cant fault him.
