  1. I have had deliveries on Friday, Saturday and 2 today!! I think they are realising this cannot go on
  2. Does anyone have the email for the manager at Peckham Sorting Office? the address I had before bounced.
  3. Big wodge of post today - hurrah!!! I am hoping that the concerted effort to communicate with head office is stirring some sort of action. I fully understand the financial benefits to the posties to getting London Weighting - but the fact remains the potential problems expressed from closing the local sorting office have obviously manifested themselves clearly. separate note - Privatising utilities/services do not seem to help the customer (duh!) water post railways I'll get my coat......
  4. Interestingly, outgoing post is not a problem - letter to Cornwall arrived the next day..... Its all just sitting in Peckham I fear.
  5. I am probably being dense but I cannot find how to contact the PO in writing to complain about the service. The customer helpline has a 40 min wait.....
  6. yes very patchy on north cross road as well - about one delivery a week - we are waiting for a replacement bank card which is well over a week since ordering what is frustrating (as well as inconvenient) is this is what we all said would happen when Silvester Road closed - to blank refusal to listen from the post office.
  7. cripes - anyone seen the multistripe furniture and planters??? Utterly hideous - not sure what the aim was but they don't exactly blend in.... interested to see what others think
  8. that is appalling - cannot believe someone would 'test' their dog like that. As a dog owner I am very aware of the potential injury to a horse or rider that an unsupervised dog would cause.
  9. what a rather mean spirited post.... if any of the doom and gloom you raised occurred it would be for the driver to deal with not you.
  10. We want to find somewhere for our in-laws to stay whilst visiting us - we do not have any room and as they are in their 70's are not really into bunking on the living roomd floor. Has anyone found somewhere nearby that has rooms for weekends? any recommendations gratefully received (and they are very well behaved! :)
  11. the calton/court lane junction now looks even more horrendous - there are around 10 x no car/no bike signs attached to all the barricades and any available spot. It looks utterly awful and I dread to think how much that lot cost. I have to say I am fed up with the complete lack of understanding of how that space is meant to work (the council have not really been helpful in addressing this) - bikes whizzing all over the place with no idea of which side of the road (in the car free area) they are meant to be. I cycle thru there several times a week and the school times are a shocker. Dads on cargo bikes jumping the lights, kids and toddlers wandering around the car free area but with bikes still gunning thru, bikes swerving about on pavements - the lack of cars has created some sort of cycle anarchy. grumpy old cyclist....
  12. I have a sash window with broken cords - none of the numbers for previously recommended people are working - can anyone recommend a tradesperson?
  13. This is a bit cheeky by does anyone know who this van belongs to? It is legally parked on northcross road, but we have a very large removal van going there tomorrow - if this van could move we could park up without causing any disruption. Long shot I know but thought it worth a try many thanks
  14. No I think the Police not the council were visiting the pubs. Yes agree it seemed a very heavy handed approach, but i suspect many pubs were complying simply to keep the "persons in blue" on their side. If there is any sort of hassle, it helps if you have a good track record. Reading that young lady's account it does seem rather a shame - and yes a very eloquent argument about what occurred. edited - the police wear black now I believe.......
  15. Cannot bare to vote conservative but i am not sure who is going to address the congestion and pollution these road closures are creating? the labour nominees seem to be having to obey the cult of 'LTNS are good even though many people find them problematic".....
  16. Just my input - but never had a problem with these dogs - either with our without my dog. They usually seem lively but goofy. sorry you have had a bad experience.
  17. It's so frustrating - you know if you have a dog that will chase 'prey' so its common sense to be cautious. I think there needs to be enforcement of dogs on lead around the lake (perhaps presence of the chap on the bike) - if we all pitch in non aggressive request to owners who don't comply to try and get the mind set OR failing that a complete ban on dogs walking around the lake? Again, not sure how that would be policed, and there are always the minority of the 'don't tell me what to do' brigade......
  18. Yes CPR Dave - the brewery's are very rich indeed - but the pubs do not benefit from this - they are viewed as an external customer who has to pay their going rates - most of which have recently risen.
  19. If you had any idea of the sh*t show that is hitting pubs at the moment you might be more sympathetic. All the goods they sell have rocketed in price Staff are very hard to find so simple economics means those costs have also risen Rents up Utilities - probably doubled at least if not tripled Please support your locals pubs - believe me they are not taking the proverbial but are trying to keep their heads above water...... They do not have anything like the resources of Wetherspoons and co.
  20. I don't trust any data or any information now that is provided by Southwark Council. Sorry state of affairs.
