I get my repeat prescriptions from here - they are obv very busy but they have never failed to have my prescription ready - previous delays were due to my medical practice. So far I have nothing but praise for them

What I find weird is when someone you know who you thought was intelligent spouts this nonsense- seriously reigned in some late night, 2 glasses of wine later, angry rants

Anyone else hear distant fireworks at 2 in the morning? Not particularly loud as quite far away but just intrigued?

I have a decathlon pedal assist bike and it is fab - I use it for getting to and from work when local. It is very heavy though, so not easy if you need to take it up steps etc. But great fun to ride.

Scam but well done for being kind -
As a cyclist the increased pollution and traffic jams caused by the amusingly named LTN?s is a nightmare

Woman murdered in East Dulwich this week
smooch replied to tomskip's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
what is there to say? I do not feel it is ok for a local chat forum to run a discussion about this. We see the reports - a horrible incident which we do not know the in and outs of - what is there to comment upon - it goes without saying that this sounds like a horrible tragedy - possibly domestic violence BUT we do no not know. I think the respectful silence speaks volumes actually and glad that people are not chipping in with their unfound opinions. -

Strakers Road is no longer free - it appears the paybyphone has extended along there now.

No the Herne Tavern playground went about 5 years ago. I think with table service/seating at all times it means it has not been allowed to be walking around - perhaps that will change june 21st?

I think the most awful thing is the anger, division and animosity that Southwark Council have created and seem oblivious/ambivilent to. They really do not give a F**k that this is one of many threads that are pages and pages long with arguments from both sides of the fence and they are just ignoring it totally. We get the occasaional foray in from some poor petrified councillor who has to tow the party line but probably has some difficulty in dealing with this amount of anger. The 'consultation' questions are so blatantly leading one could cry. After such an awful year, you would think they would consult with key contributors - bus drivers, emergency services and perhaps the local businesses who have created such a fantastic local high street. But no - of course not.... Just before the local elections I had some representative who was trying to say that the local chaos was not Southwarks fault but a citywide problem - I pulled her up on this (they implented them) when I asked what her opinions were about the serious concerns of local businesses she was very flustered and had no answer. As a lifelong labour supporter I was very clear in my current mood - poor thing did not know what to say. We have had COVID, we have had BREXIT and a bunch of ivory tower idiots are playing roulette with peoples lives and livelihoods.

recently I saw a post on a local forum from a mum who had a lad who was very interested in parakeets and was asking for feathers. I now, of course, cannot find the flipping post anyway (maybe next door east dulwich?) anyway on our dog walk in dulwich woods today we found two. pm me if you have any details for the young ornitholorgist. x

Where can I buy vegetable plants locally?

Alleyn Park Garden Centre has loads of veg in right now rear of 77 park hall road se21 -
thank you - very straightforward

this is all detracting from the initial problem - that some streets are, for whatever reason, deemed more important than others - particularly roads that do not have large houses with big front gardens on them - roads that are now utterly choked with pollution due to stationary traffic. I find the nitpicking over the wording - which in no way can be linked to the BLM cause (which in my mind was a valid and serious campaign) can no one use the word 'matter' now? I think ab29 sums it up well.

Unsettling experience running in Dulwich Park this morning
smooch replied to alimc's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
description? - if you can remember - it sounds very fleeting but utterly inappropriate. don't stop running!! -
Due to some exceedingly dodgy 'trials' in the usa in the 60's and 70's there is an inherant distrust of the medical community in some groups. (google syphiliis trials in usa) It's hard to shake off this legacy and sadly these type of scaremongering reactivate this concern. There is also those bandwagon jumpers who should know better but are spouting off all sorts of nonsense in the interest of self promotion (a certain Mr Fox springs to mind) apologies for typos

where did it say I cycled on the pavement? as a cyclist I do not use the pavement I would also add that I always stop at red lights and make a point of bellowing, in an angry middle aged manner, at those cyclists who do not think a red traffic light is anything to do with them. yes that means you, dulwich dad with your two lads on bikes who decided to jump the red light at the junction of dulwich village and turney road in the afternoon last week. Should add the boys were mortificed, but Dad wasn't

no I think the point was they were trying to show, en masse, how many people were angry at the pollution and congestion that they are being subjected to - and not consulted with.

Amazing footage of protests in Ealing and Brixton - sign me up (fully masked of course) if we can organise anything similar here!!!
-
I again reiterate - give these guys a break - they have about 6 tables outside on a very quiet street - I cycled past yesterday and there was nothing untoward about the layout. I for one love seeing all the chairs and tables outside where ever possible - franklins have been really creative (and safe) as has number 57 on northcross road. I wish all these businesses nothing but the best and I am pretty sure they are all doing their absolute utmost not to antagonise anyone in order to keep their businesses going.
