HI,

I was working in peckham last week and was given a residents visitors parking permit by the house holder to park, I scratched off the correct date and month and displayed it on the dash board but didn't realise I had to write my registration number down on it. So I recieved a ticket.

Anyone contested the same situation and won?????

cheers,

David.

Was it a daily/hourly ticket or a monthly one that could be passed to someone else to use?

I have contested tickets like this before, not locally, and it was an hourly ticket.

I impressed upon them that I had shown my intention to pay...and surely they should be spending their resources on those avoiding payment not tricking those who have. That seemed to do the trick. Good luck.

Yes, had exactly your situation (failed to put registration on), contested and won.

We said it was an oversight rather than deliberate attempt to mislead and made clear it was a one off, and that by using a permit we were attempting to park lawfully. If its the first time for you I reckon you can overturn it.

I've had tickets galore over the years, iv'e won a few lost a few.

If you've the energy fight it. However, the system is designed to be protracted and tiresome & when i've worked out my hourly rate, sometimes it's not worth the effort.

Look at it like this. All the info is printed on the ticket but you didn't read it for whatever reason, so you didn't do all that's required & you were penalised for that.

Pay it and move on, won't happen again.

Good luck

Of course fight!

(the pen is mightier than the sword an' all that)

Just shame the Pen wasn't used in the first place.

You can informally contest and still pay the reduced amount if you fail, doesn't take more than a form or phonecall.

Some councils (e.g. Wandsworth) will usually let you off if it's your first mistake.

Personally I would try the informal route, and take it on the chin if you fail, worth a try.

The formal procedure is a real slog and one for doing on principle only!

    • OMFG is it possible for the council to do anything without a bunch of armchair experts moaning about it? The library refurb is great news, as it's lovely but completely shagged out - the toilets don't even work reliably. Other libraries in the area will be open longer house during the closure. July is a rubbish time to begin a refurb because it's just before the entire construction sector goes on summer holiday, and it would mean delaying the work another 8 months.

Worth contacting her with views on ammendments to the original license. I am fairly sure she won't grant any amendments, but just in case.....
    • Second time Aria has completed a plumbing job for me and both times he’s been polite. Communicative, kept to time and completed the job. He’s very helpful and tidy as well. First job was ball valve in water tank, not easy at all. He and his team were fantastic. This time kitchen tap cylinders replaced and tap tightened.  Much appreciated, Aria thank you.
    • Thought others may be interested to help a local community centre help others.    My bank account offers roundup and it’s been growing all year. As well as treating myself or putting it towards a train ticket to see my family I’ve made a donation to the Albrighton. They can use donations at any time but I hope my donation will go towards the Christmas hampers.    Can you support them so they can provide Christmas hampers?   https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/albrightoncommunityfridge?utm_id=1&utm_term=M22JKQb6W   A donation of £50 will pay for a hamper to feed a family over this Christmas period. A donation of £30 will pay for a hamper to feed someone living on their own over the Christmas period.
