We just had a guy come round to our door asking for money. He seemed genuine so we gave him a tenner. Are there emergency help numbers that I can give him if he returns?

Was it a young guy wearing brown/patterned shirt? Saw him walking around for hours

A couple of weeks ago we had a young Italian man knocking on the door with a story about needing money for a hostel bed. We gave him some change and he came back a week later asking for twenty pounds. Maybe it's the same lad.

Unfortunately they always seem genuine.

That's why people give them money.

I've done it myself, though in the street. They always have a very plausible story.

It's annoying when you realise you've been scammed though.
